News Dragon caught fire in today’s Festival of Fantasy parade

Did they end up calling off the parade or did they continue after it was put out?

I’m late to the thread so this may have already been answered but they just went back down the parade route, back to the start. So surreal. They just had to carry on whilst the float burned!

What happens after a disaster like this strikes during a parade? Does the music and sound just cut off and all of the characters and floats disperse into separate hidden corridors?

Nope. One video I saw just had the parade back up back down the parade route. Music still on, characters still waving and dancing, music still on. Very strange but also very professional.

Knowing that everyone was okay, I now a little selfishly wonder how fast it might be fixed and if it even is fixed when I would return? I was hoping to finally see this parade when I’m down there in a month (and was looking forward to this float). Something tells me I won’t be seeing it though...

The parade or the specific float? You will see the parade no doubt. It will continue uninterrupted. Likely will roll out today at 3 p.m. without any issues. However it will be Sans the Dragon.

How long the dragon will be out, will it return, and if so will it breath fire again is all anyone's guess.

All of the units and floats in front of the dragon proceeded down the route doing a walk and wave.
The rest of the performers past the dragon were escorted off route and off of their floats.
Mickey balloon float was driven back to Splash Mountain along with Dragon and bubbles float drove down the rest of the parade route eventually.

Clearly looks like lots of damage to the head and upper neck regions. I don't expect we'll see the dragon back in the parade for a while. They'll need to understand what caused it and develop and implement design changes to prevent recurrence, along with the actual repairs of the float infrastructure

I'll be watching to see if it's pair in Paris is removed from their parade tomorrow as a precaution until the cause of the fire is identified and a remediation and safety plan is put in place.

It looks like the Paris dragon will be participating in today's parade but without fire until they've isolated the cause of the problem yesterday at MK and determined if design changes are necessary for safety.

I'm glad to see everyone safe. It is a bit sad that we are now all worried that Disney will simply omit the float from the parade. Commitment to show standards was always something that separated Disney from everyone else, but now it seems like many expect them not to repair or replace the float.

One video showed a cast member, Gabe, I think, probably a parade manager handling it pretty well all things considered. The real thing I'm curious about is is to see how long this float is out of omission.
