Gotta run here, but just a quickie for @FutureCEO -- I saw this news yesterday, that William Shatner is going to be the commencement address speaker for the New England Institute of Technology, in Rhode Island. Those students are lucky! (I honestly can't even remember who the speaker was at mine--obviously, the person made no impression on me! :p )

Right down the street from me. Well, a few miles away. I'm right there with you that I can't remember mine.

I’m afraid to even look up the price. Lol

If you do decide to cruise again, you may want to check out NCL.. they run a “kids sail free” promotion fairly often on select sailings.. also right now and once a year, they do a “tax free spree” (unfortunately not for Thanksgiving week :( )
Anyway, you can combine the 2. Kids free doesn’t help me because of double occupancy.. and it wouldn’t really help you on two cabins either, but I think the Haven has 2 suites that sleep 6.. if all of your kids were “free” and without taxes and port fees for all.. you may get a good deal, especially for the Haven!
Thanks for the info. That room is probably way, way out of my price range.

In other news, yesterday noticed a ship I had never seen before.
It was a US navy ship.. and I wondered if it was one of these new stealth ships or what. Because it was very blocky, no curves..

Also no PHALANX defense systems but they had missiles and helicopter pad.
Reminded me of the back of the ship that appeared in the series "The Last Ship".

Turns out it was a San Antonio class amphibious transport ship.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Antonio-class_amphibious_transport_dock

and considering the number on the hull... , it was probably the San Diego (LPD-22)

In the Parks
No
Oh no it’s not a good place. We got caught in a very bad thunderstorm last May and had to stand in the bathrooms at the entrance. The lightning and rain were awful. We were standing with so many people you couldn’t move.
AK is by far the worst park for t-storms. I've gotten stuck there so many times. It's never been pleasant.

The best time was getting stuck over by Star Tours and riding it repeatedly until it was time to leave.

We ran from France in Epcot a couple years ago in a thunderstorm and through a big @$$ puddle

to get schoolbread from Norway
:hilarious: Well you had a good reason to run then. Once in Epcot when we just had 3 kids and 2 strollers, the skies opened just as Illuminations started. Everyone tried to find an overhang or anything to duck into. The rain came down so hard that there must have been 2-3 inches of water on the walkway near Canada. Dh and I got separated because I just couldn’t see more than a couple of feet in front of me. Eventually it lightened up and we found each other. Our feet were completely soaked and there was no point in wearing shoes. We took them off and just waded back to Boardwalk, which was where we were staying. The fireworks and music continued the whole time. I guess once it starts they don’t or can’t stop it? Definitely a memorable experience. My oldest still remembers it since she was 7.

Thanks.. this one hit hard because we missed his last indoor soccer game so we could attend the Cub Scout meeting to make parent gifts for the banquet. He also had a part in a skit that his troop was doing, and he’s worked all year to earn the badges that he was supposed to receive at the banquet.
I think this was my worst Fail to date.

Combine that with his postponed bday party due to scheduling conflicts, and not receiving the baseball game schedule til 2 weeks ago!!
Now there’s literally no venues left for the times we need. (I usually book his bday party in February, March at the latest). So, this year I told him that we’ll figure out something...but I still don’t know how/what.
There’s no way that I can do one at home, I just don’t have the prep time.
So anyway, between those 2 ‘disappointments’ I’m feeling horrible.
He may remember it, but hopefully not in a traumatized way. ;)
Calm down, you did no permanent damage but expect a bit of guilt thrown your way;) DO NOT GIVE IN!

Mine too..but it still looks amazing! The entire ship does though.

I don’t know the specifics of kids sail free promo on Norwegian.. if it could include 4 kids in a haven suite.. and all of you would get all 5 perks.. it could end up to be even cheaper than 2 regular staterooms when all said and done.
I’m not sure if it has changed, but I know at one point you didn’t have to pay gratuities on beverage and dining packages if a Haven passenger.. I’m including in that in my “could be cheaper” thoughts.

I would have done a surprise GWL stay.. but there’s honestly not one bit of room in our schedule!! I can’t justify arriving at 7pm and checking out a 7am the next day. I already looked at that option.
I am hosting his family bday party at my house.. and I’m also hosting a 30ish person First Communion Party next month.. I’ve scoured the calendar and the only possible bday times would be Sundays @ 4ish.. but everywhere is booked!

I will figure something out. I’m going to dedicate my morning to it tomorrow.
Have you checked bowling alleys? Boys seem to like the noise:cautious:
