When my wife and I were dating, she had a minor accident with her car where she slid off the road and her right rear wheel hit a tree stump very slightly bending the wheel. The repair shop showed her that the tire was dented in the same spot as the wheel. He told her she needed a new tire because it was bent. That went into a you need to buy all 4 because we don't have one to match the rest. (another fake problem) She bought them. I tried my best not to laugh when she told me what happened. I explained that even if the tire was bent, it was made of rubber. The wheel needed replacing, but, not necessarily the tire. And particularly not all four. That was the single motivation that I had when my girls were old enough that I taught them all about mechanical things dealing with cars. They did their own oil and filter changes and even brake jobs when it was necessary. I don't want them to be at the mercy of a crooked mechanic. It wasn't my wife's fault, she was never taught any different.

Ugh. I feel for her! I thought I knew better..

Good for you for teaching your daughters that stuff! Another bonus..If a person can swim, change a tire, and know how to drive a manual transmission- that person will never be stuck anywhere ;)

Do. I need to be up already? Got woken up at 3:47am by some loud people talking in the hallway. Tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t of course. Oh well. I am just the driver. Anyway I put on the Weather Channel before we went to sleep hoping to catch a weather report, but of course it was a strange weather show that was being broadcast. I wanted to change it but dd said, “No, I love science.” All of a sudden the show turns to sink holes and the video is of houses suddenly falling and crumbling. The announcer says Florida is the world’s sinkhole capital. I knew that already, but the 7 year old science lover who made me keep it on says, “I don’t want to move to Florida anymore.”:cautious:

7:30am. The plan is to drop off luggage at bell services beforehand, room won’t be ready yet but the kids can at least see the lobby, they’ll meet the rest of their party at that time. Then head to breakfast... stay at MK until closing and then go to room.

I can’t remember the luggage policy, do they have to be in the room for it to be delivered? I know I had to be in 2015.. I just don’t know if that was for luggage from the ME or the carry-ons that I dropped off at Bell Services.
Are they doing ohanna arrival day?

Except that freak February and March showers brought March flowers and now they're all freezing and dying in April :banghead::banghead:

Oh, don't bother with real flowers in our area. Look, go buy some cheap plastic ones and stick them in the ground--no one will know the difference. (And if you get the premium plastic flowers, they even have a light--now that's classy!) :p

I was having trouble with my CD player in my car so I brought it to the dealer for warranty work. I have been getting all my regular servicing done by a garage very close to where I live and they do a good job. While I was there I asked them how much they charged for an oil change. With a straight face they told me $80.00. Just about twice what my present garage charges. It uses synthetic oil and they use a very good quality brand. He told me that VW demands a specific chemical make up synthetic oil and rattled off a bunch of numbers that I knew were bogus and meant nothing. I am going to continue using my garage where I can get the oil changed twice for that price. That is the reason why I never use the dealer for anything other then warranty stuff.
Sympathy like we just did a dealer oil change for 40 something and got a rebate check:joyfull:

It's too bright. They have those new fancy lights in this location that are low electricity but high light output. It's like working inside a tanning bed, LOL.

That's my complaint as well in many buildings, with the LED lights. Recently, they've retrofitted a lot of the offices with the softer color, so they're not as stark. Glad they've come up with a softer light, but still LED and cost effective. All our lights at home are the softer ones.

Such different experiences...
We went to Pep Boys way back when. I know a bit about cars, and I know they were trying to screw us. Never trusted them again, and took the vehicle to another repair shop...never have gone back. They can go Pep themselves...I don't like being looked straight in my face and being lied to like a dog.
Glad you had a positive exoerience!
We have a Discount Tire here. They fix flats for free, replace any faulty product without a hassle (although none of us has ever had faulty product from them, and my 85-year-old pop likes them ;)), etc.
Buying new tires shouldn't be a pain, and they make it so easy...!!!

And, as always, big chains have such different management or staffing from location to location...one location spot on, another location not. And, combine bad management with bad staffing...it's a carp shoot... :cyclops:

We've also avoided the large chain stores for tires. Luckily, we have a locally run and owned (since 1965) tire store that has reasonable prices, and they also fix flats. In addition, they sell some slightly worn tires, if you're short of money (years ago that was the case, and we were able to replace a few almost bald tires, with these ones--got us through the winter and spring, until we had the money to get new ones).

That's really the difference between (most) of the chain stores and a local company. We've found that the local ones are more willing to step in and help find alternative solutions. End result--we've been loyal customers of these guys for years now.

I have to honestly say that I have never heard of Falken Tires. Are they made in the Falken Islands out of material scraped from the teeth of the local population? Just kidding, I know they are a Japanese brand, but, I'm not kidding when I say I never heard of them before until you just mentioned them. Let us know how they work out.:)

Oh thank goodness--I didn't have a clue what he was saying about Falken tires either! (I don't know much about tire brands, but glad to know I wasn't the only one clueless about "Falken".) ;)

New camera came in today. I'm excited to play around with it this weekend, but tested it out in the low light of my darkened den on the auto setting:

Gonna need to learn how to shift the focus, which is on her paw in this, but overall you can't even tell it's taken in low light!

Thank God, we have animals to enrich our lives. I love them. :inlove: What a nice photo--you've done very well with your new camera! (Although you've taken some really awesome photos with your previous camera, too!) :)

Sympathy like. My pet peeve when staying in a hotel is when some guests decide that they must have a conversation IN THE HALLWAY . . . um, go to your room, you idiots!!!! :banghead:
