Back at some point in the 80s, I recall some friends who had 2 children (approx. 7-10 years old). So, looking forward, and being on the cutting edge (back then), they bought a computer for the home. The parents looked as it as an investment piece, that would be useful to the kids as they grew older, into high school and college. Little did they know back then, that computer equipment coming along right after that, would be practically obsolete within 6 months or less of the purchase!

But, we all grew up with not throwing out things, and usually repairing stuff if it broke.
