Here in Northern Carroll County, we've gotten at least 16 inches of snowfall, but compacting makes it tough to measure. I know I've shoveled the driveway twice and it was well over 6 inches both times. Now for a shower, some dinner, and a choice adult beverage or two!
Yeah, not quite that much here. The roads are evidently treacherous because of the ice more than anything.

Our little road still has 6 inches of snow everywhere except where I shoveled and where the neighbor walked by with his snowblower. The more major roads aren't quite as bad, but in an hour or so when the sun goes down it doesn't look promising. Sidewalks are totally invisible.

Although, my daughter is quite excited. Back in January, I made the skeptical promise that she could try using her newly purchased skis in our backyard IF we got a snowfall over 20 inches. We may not have quite that much, but I told her that if we get off on Thursday she can give it a try. Should be interesting!

I thought I just heard on the news that Carol County schools are closed tomorrow.

technically, its "climate change". Because while the general temps are higher, this causes compensation with more extreme tempts in other areas.

Speaking of global warming.. I read somewhere yesterday that one of the biggests ice caskets in the south pole has broken and is floating, which means it can separate any moment and cause a sea shift of up to 3 meters upwards.

Which is insane.. 3 meters would mean that cities like Alexandria and most of the Nile delta will be invaded with water.

Mexico's Yucatan peninsula would be partially covered as well. and I I suppose Louisiana and Florida too.

Yikes!

Yeah, here I think they've used one too many snow days. With any luck, they'll just take back one of those professional development days.
My school district is not as bad off as that...but still it is disappointing that we were off today and another school day will be added in June to make up for being off today. I will post a photo (today at 1pm)of my driveway and street. See? No snow! I should be teaching.View attachment 271561[/QUOTE]

Nice looking neighborhood you have there, Steve. :)

Edit:

I see where the 'quote" thing is wacko today--Where it says above, "My school district is not as bad off . . .etc."---well, that's part of Steve's quote, but it looks like I typed it there, as part of my response here?? :cautious:

Hello new friend! Been teaching high school band and orchestra for 24 years now in northern Maryland. Spent the first 20 years at the same school, then switched to the school @StarWarsGirl went to. Spent a couple years as a regular around these boards, but then they cut back on our staffing and I find myself with very little time any more! Still happy to visit when I can and occasionally throw $.02 into the mix.

Good, but...as always...very busy. Visited the World last summer for July 4 and then right after Christmas AND for the Princess Half, so busy with good Disney time in addition to work!

Good to see so many familiar folks are still here and since I had a half a snow day yesterday and all day today, did some reading to catch up a bit. Seems like the Chit and the Chat are much the same as before! Slainte!

@brifraz I know the life of a HS band director is VERY busy. Glad you could come back to your Chit Chat roots.

I know I've been away for a couple thousand pages or so...but I thought I was the music teacher around here! Happy Birthday @SteveBrickNJ - hope your Festival/Assessment goes well - if you are went yesterday/today, a good friend of mine was possibly judging you!

And...hello to all! Been away too long (and likely this is just a drop in visit), but snow days make for some good wdwmagic time!

Nice to hear from you. You've been missed. :inlove:
