Splash Mountain constantly breaking down?

So, I have been at WDW since January 30th. I rode Splash on Friday February 1 when it reopened from its refurb, and the ride stopped a few times, but nothing too unusual. Then today the ride broke down when our log was right by the "Everything is satisfactual" lettering painted on the wood near the unloading and loading area. We ended up sitting in the log for around 20-25 minutes before they started the logs up again, and we were able to disembark normally. Also, I noticed the ride was temporarily closed for about two hours Saturday night. I am just curious as to why the attraction seems to be having issues even after two refurbs in the last 4 months? Is this a normal occurrence? I have been to WDW at least a dozen times and have ridden Splash many many times at both WDW and Disneyland. However, I do not remember the attraction breaking down like this in the past. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Slightly off subject but with there being a big refurb late 2017 and the usual January downtime I’m assuming the next scheduled on would be early 2019?

Would I be assuming correct!? I ask as we are in WDW in October and it’s my son’s no.1 and you’ll all appreciate you get a little worried about stuff like your favourites being down when you visit! :)

I have a feeling the 25 minutes had something to do with somebody have trouble loading/unloading. This happened to me once at DL where somebody literally couldn't get out of the log and took like 20 minutes to get out

I would have assumed this to be the case, but where we were for 25 minutes was in view of the loading area. The people were all able bodied and got out of the logs fine. It really want a big deal, but just wondered if sensors or animatronics or something malfunctioned? Or what was going on?

This much more likely than animatronics

Yeah that makes sense. Thank you for your replies. We had a wonderful trip and are sad to be leaving. I’ll be posting my first trip report once we return. The Splash Mountain delays, for whatever reason, we’re not a big deal for us. In fact, I was actually kind of hoping we would have to be evacuated :) I was just curious more than anything else.
