I uploaded the pictures from Newport this morning, so here are a few of my favorites.
Yesterday we went to The Elms to see the Christmas decor there.. It's a much smaller mansion, but pretty impressive nonetheless. It was actually supposed to be demolished back in 1961 but was rescued by the Newport Preservation Society and is now a National Historic Landmark. The Breakers will always be my favorite, but The Elms is definitely high on my list too.

I didn't take any pictures of the front of the home, but here's the backyard:

The Nativity was too large to fit in one picture - the detail to it was amazing.

There's still one more mansion, Marble House, we want to go to if we get time before the craziness of the upcoming holidays and if the stupid winter weather cooperates.

OK - possibly a really dumb question - If you're invited to a "holiday get together that lists the time as 5 - 8 pm, do you assume it's a dinner party?

That's what I'm assuming too but DH thinks differently. I made a batch of spiced pecans to bring as a munchie - he wants me to make a dessert too.

Those are old photos so I'm hoping a lot of it is gone now. I'd replace the furniture too..
