Today's service was the Men's Choir concert. Hubs is a part of that he plays his ukulele in it, the band is quite good. So he was able to sit for most of the service, the guys found him a chair to prop his leg on. It was also the annual potato pancake meal so hubs stayed for that. He was pretty tired when he came home and the ankle was more swollen than when I took him to work.

I ended up skipping church. I did a full cleaning of the house, tackled Mount Laundry, and packed away some stuff in the living room to get ready for some Christmas decorations.

Blah. Hope the swelling has come down. And you likely needed some me time even if it included Mt. Laundry. Pixie Dust.

A lot of people don't realize that swans can be very dangerous if they're protecting their young. A mating pair could (not easily) kill an adult.

Our female swan is on birth control. She had enough babes and they are not easy to get rid of around here. They are beautiful and they are mean the Six months they summer here.

The swelling has come down a lot, just a little swollen. So that is good news. He is getting around okay, he has some problems with the steps in the front of the house so he hasn't left the house much. He is lucky that he can do a lot of work from home.

Mount Laundry has been 95% conquered. And you are right I will need some ME time, I will get a few hours tomorrow and Thursday as he has some church stuff that can't be done at home. AND, since he insisted and because he can do what he needs to do to take care of himself without me I will be having my long weekend in WDW in 4 days! I was afraid I would have to cancel but looks like I won't have to. Thanks for the Pixie Dust!

So I don't think I should be taking Kapono to the vet anymore, don't worry she is fine but I think I'm a jinx. I took her in 2 weeks ago to get her nails clipped and on the way out I ran into a colleague/church member, and she and her husband were taking their dog in to have it put down (old age & health problems). Today I took Kapono in to have an area checked out; she had a tick and hubs didn't get it all out. And as I was paying a former colleague/church member and he was bringing in his dog to have it put down (again because of old age & health). I feel so bad for them, and out of all the times I've taken Kapono and our old dog Henry to the vet I never ran into anyone I knew, now twice in a row. If it happens again I will know I'm a jinx.:(

Ok, now someone needs to tell a bad/dad joke and lighten up the mood.

Left a few minutes early to take oldest dd to gymnastics cause I needed to get gas. Left my development and started accelerating. Barely got to 35 when a deer popped in front of me.:eek: I still know my reflexes are good cause I slammed on those brakes pretty darn fast. You know, the stupid deer which was probably maybe 10 feet from the hood didn’t even acknowledge the car. It just kept on moseying across the road like it had all evening.:rolleyes:My intestines felt like they had twisted in my abdomen.

Oh my, glad you didn't hit it.

I think I posted about this right after it happened, so sorry if this is a repeat...
I was on my way to work through another neighborhood without fences a little while back where the deer roam free. A deer bolted from a front yard into the street about 50 ft. in front of me and skidded in front of a GMC 4x4 pickup coming in the other direction, that then rolled it with the undercarriage. I drove by just in time to see it's convulsing corpse. Lovely start to my morning. :cyclops:

:jawdrop: Too many RULES! My goodness, it must take a year to learn all the in's and out's of living there. ;) Rules aside, it sounds like a very nice place to live. :)

Ohhhhh....I only gave you a sampling of this town I call home. My DD gave me a sweatshirt a few years back.....

It is my favorite Christopher quote to describe Hamlet

This town is like one big
outpatient mental institution

So I came home from work today with a migraine and am now in the darkest place in the house: the basement. I went into the utility room to get something and left the door open. I found Belle in there a few minutes later and asked her what she was doing in there. Then I heard a squeak. I was like...um, on second thought, you can stay in there.

Then, about five minutes later, out walks Belle with a dead mouse in her mouth. Brings it out to me for approval.

Then, I find Jasmine in there, after I heard another squeak. I'm not 100% sure, but she came out licking her chops a few minutes later...

Yay! and Ewe!!!:depressed:

Belle needs to teacher her to bring it for approval.....

Thank you. :)
He does great socially until he starts talking about his favorite videos and video game characters, then he loses the other kids because he's so hyper focused and detail oriented that he can name every official version, every fan version, etc. etc. Funny thing is that whenever we go anywhere as a family for fun, he always makes friends to hang out with and they have a blast. I think between disliking school in general and feeling bored (his brain works so fast sometimes it's scary) that his brain just reverts back to the standby favorites. It certainly doesn't help that we're basically trapped inside for a good part of the year because he has intermittent asthma and the cold air gives him pneumonia, so he ends up spending a lot of time on games and junk. We're working on moving to warmer climates in the not-too-distant future.
Funny...my son is a math and tech wiz and can talk your ear off, but has a super hard time expressing himself in writing. We're hopeful that the recent decision to let him use speech-to-text will help.

He's doing much better and not miserable at school this year (so far), so hopefully the horribleness is in the past.

Yes, the video game thing is very familiar, and attention to detail in many areas, but, others not so much.
I do indeed pray that the horribleness is in the past for him...! :)

Thanks! So far so good! We're still working on helping him stay organized (that's a project and a half) and on letting things go, but he's doing really good and trying really hard - he earned a quick Great Wolf trip last month and we're working towards a longer one in the spring. Goals and rewards are a biggie with him. :)

Glad to hear! :)
Yes, the organization thing is an issue for our DS as well. Seems, most likely, related to his issues with time and space.

When I was in the transportation business, I used to teach a class on defensive driving. I used that line a lot. Right of way does not now and never has meant that you can just proceed because of it. I know many people per year have died because "they had the right of way" and just assumed that meant that nothing bad could happen. After all they were just following the law. Right of way, does not stop a speeding vehicle from hitting you. All it does is assign blame so that in court the people you left behind can feel vindicated, but, not comforted.

Well stated! :)

Very similar message I drummed into my kids heads.

@donaldtoo , I was watching a news report this morning about the Boeing 747 -- it's retiring -- taking its last few commercial flights over the next couple of weeks. (They're still good for cargo planes though (front loading), so it's expected that the company will continue to make these.) Also, AF1 is not retiring, but the rest of all commercial 747's are.

And let's not forget the piano lounges from the 70s (before they retrofitted these little gems with more regular passenger seats  ) --

Oh my. Definitely news to me. The pic at the top looks like a 747-8.
Retiring them from all airlines in a coupla' weeks, or just US airlines, or just cessation of commercial variant manufacturing...?!
Seems pretty odd that all airlines would just retire/ground them all at the same time... :cyclops:
A link, maybe...? o_O
Yes, I'm too lazy to go look right now...! :D ;)

And yes, I remember the days when those luxury babies were all the rage in air travel...!!!!! :joyfull: ;) :)

I had a young buck startle me and me him as I walked the nature center Sunday. Came over a bridge near the river turned onto the side walk and there he was looking at me like friend or foe??? And I was worried he was going to go with foe as he was looking more tense than most deer back there. He only had little baby antlers but they could have done some real damage. I walked backwards to the bridge and up it all the way backwards as he kept an eye on me. He hopped a fence and then was spooked by a Cocker Spaniel. That buck has learning yet.

That evening I was walking to the house from my DD apartment. And there is a young fox across the street in the direction I am walking. Again a staring contest. At least he was small enough if he dared I could have likely taken him over loosing to a buck. He J walked across the intersection stopped and stared daring me to move. My friend lives on that intersection. Guess where I went. I've seen coyote in our neighborhood but never a fox. The zoo is expanding in Hamlet.

It was a Sunday of Critters encounters. o_O
