MSEP blackout day tickets for So Cal APs

Maybe I'm just getting old, but sometimes I can't help but be annoyed by how literally everything that happens at Disneyland now is an opening for a special event/marketing blitz. Can't they put this parade to rest for once without turning it into a promotional opportunity? It's too much.

Yeah it's getting to be too much. The right move would be to lift blackouts the way they did at WDW. But no instead they strategically made the end of the parade 8/20 ( 2 weeks before labor day - the unofficial end of summer) just to squeeze a little bit more juice out of the APs that are blocked out. Very tacky. It would be better of them to not make an offer at all.
Instead theY give us a direct line of sight into the sliminess of their strategy.

Could you imagine how it would get if they removed the block out days here even for a couple days?

since Anaheim has a huge annual pass following I'm sure many of them would take advantage of that. Not only would the parade enticed them but also the opportunity to ride the trains and river attractions before Labor Day.
Their best bet to keep things civil would be to offer the discount but maybe make it with a bigger saving. Something that would also not be to inexpensive

TBH I don't think it would get even close to the craziness that is Christmas break.

Also we all know that their motivation is money and not that the parks would be too crowded. And we know that because they continue offer APs and payment plans

Is it really so shocking that Disney's main motivation is money? It's a company not a person with thoughts and feelings.

WDW and DL are both the same company. They are just drastically different from each other. They offered to drop black out dates at WDW for the end of the parade, not because they care about those APers more, but because they have way less APs and much more space and can afford to do so. And they didn't do that out of the kindness of their hearts either. They did it to drum up good will and most likely try to increase AP sales. Dropping black out dates at DL for the end of a beloved parade would be like asking for a natural disaster to blow through the park. It would not only kill good will for the APs but all regular paying guests as well and most likely hurt business.
WDW and DL are different beasts, comparing them doesn't work.
And everything, and I mean everything, Disney does will always be about money. No doubt about that.

Cmon. Do you really think this needs to be stated and I don't get that. The point is they used to perfect the art of making you want to spend more money without knowing it and not be all in your face asking for more money all the time. Purposely ending the parade 2 weeks before the unofficial end of summer so They can ask for money from APs is tacky. It would be better to not offer anything at all. And I don't buy anything about the crowds. Like I said that has nothing to do with their decision at all.

I can't argue with the tackiness. But disagree about crowds. If they unblock APs and end a parade, pandemonium would ensue.

I honestly don't think it would be as bad as you are forecasting. Could be wrong but I don't think it would come close to the Christmas break crowds.

Comparing unblocking APs at WDW with unblocking them at DLR just isn't even reasonable.

Disney is under no obligation to unblock any days at all. Honestly, if I was paying top dollar for a park hopper and coming in from out of town and had carefully chosen blocked days, I would be very unhappy to find Disney had opened the floodgates.

I'm of the opinion that

A) Disney shouldn't have to lift this blockout date, so that's fine with me. As someone else said, the AP situation is way different here than it is in Florida, and would it kill a passholder to see the parade a week earlier?

B) BUT. Gleefully setting out to lure/trap passholders into purchasing one-day-one-park tickets is beyond slimy.
