I''ve commandeered DH's computer for a bit to keep up here. I'm still not sure whether it's my adaptor or the computer...I just know it isn't charging. I took it to MediaMarkt today...it's kind of like Best Buy I guess? Anyway, if I need to get a new computer I really don't want to go through them. They have really been terrible. DH bought his computer through them and they took AGES and gave him misinformation that cost us a lot of money. DD bought her tablet through them and it went wonky so we brought it in and they couldn't fix it, so gave her a new one, but didn't give her the SD card back and then couldnt find it, and that was after they copied the serial number down wrong so it took them twice as long trying to repair the tablet as it was supposed to. So she finally hears they can't fix it after 6 weeks and then the new one doesn't work either....she just got it back a couple of days ago...I hope it's right now. But I took my computer and adaptor in today...they tell me to go back to this counter where some guy has all sorts of adaptors so he can see if it's the adaptor or not. I go back there, he takes forever finding one that will fit my computer, plugs it in and turns it on. "Yep, it's the adaptor." I ask him how he can tell. "Well, because the computer turned on." Um...yeah...because it has this thing called a BATTERY. Honestly...you work with computers??? So he goes and gets this universal one and tells me that one of the bits will fit my computer. I pay for it, I go home...it fits, but is a bit loose. I try every single bit and only the one fits, but it doesn't charge my battery. So I have to go all the way back to return it and ask if I can check a different one IN the store, before I get it home and it doesn't work again. The gal says sure...there's a guy back there with a beard...he'll help you. (she called him) I go back there....there are FIVE guys and every one of them has facial hair...I have no idea which one she's talked to that will help, so I ask the first guy available. After confirming that none of them work on my computer, he tells me he can't help me. I need to get one directly from the manufacturer. So...when you told me this morning that this would for sure work on my computer, when I asked if this was a good and trusted brand, etc...you were lying to me? And they can't take my computer in for work to see if it's the hook up where the adaptor plugs into the computer, because I don't have my receipt from like...5 years ago. They can not repair something without a receipt, even though it wasn't bought there and doesn't have a warranty on it anymore. Nobody seems to know anything about the appliances/devices they are selling there, everything has to be sent off site. I ordered a new adaptor off the internet, it's supposed to be here tomorrow. If THAT doesn't work, I will probably need a new computer because the place where I bought this computer is no longer in business and I can not find the original receipt, so I can't send mine in for repairs. Wish me luck and send me some pixie dust, please!
How frustrating! Hope it is just the cord.

Can I ask, what was the bad in Denver? Any tips or pointers?
Well, for one, we had an early morning flight and they sent us an email the night before to tell us we needed to be there to check in 3 hours before the flight because they were expecting long lines to get through security....to make sure we would make it to boarding on time, we had to check in 3 hours before the flight. So we got there 3.5 hours early and they didn't even OPEN until 1.5 hours before the flight. So we stood in the line for 2 hours before they even started the check in. We made it through security no problem, so that wasn't an issue, but you don't tell people to be there if you aren't going to be there too. Then there were issues with seating...we had to ask to make sure the kids were seated with us, we had to pay extra in order to change our seats even though regulations don't allow minors to sit without a parent. We get boarded and there is a mom frantically trying to find someone who will switch seats with her because they had put her 12 year old in a different row...apparently they weren't following those rules that said the girl couldn't fly without a parent or guardian. My husband offered to switch...we had been sitting me with the 2 kids and him somewhere else, which was the best they could do, and he was sitting by the girl. So he let the mom sit by the girl and he went and sat a ways away. It all worked out, but only because WE arranged it, Frontier wasn't bothered by adhering to regulations, whereas in Orlando, when they saw we were with kids, they moved our seats and even upgraded us to economy plus because they didn't have any more seats in standard where we could sit together. We had paid extra to choose our seats, but something went wrong, so they refunded that fee and upgraded us. I think it's really just luck of the draw. It was the guy in Orlando who told us about the regulation for minors...they could not let the kids fly if we weren't seated next to them. In Denver, we had to remind them of that and then they still made us pay to rearrange seats, and still didn't put that other mom with the girl. Seating with kids seems to be a MAJOR problem across the board no matter which airline you fly, but some are better about fixing it than others. I wish I could give you tips, but I don't think it was anything we could plan for. It just depends on who is working that day and how good they are at problem solving.

Flying with kids on Southwest isn't a problem. Open seating and families with children board after first class and passengers needing assistance.

For me it sounds the following:

  • The Battery is the damaged part.
  • The Battery damaged the charger in a chain, probably a surge that bounced. Hence why the charger was not working but the universal one did manage to turn the PC on.. but did not charge the battery.
  • NEVER use universal chargers, specially if they do not fit. Since the movement can make tons of mini short circuits and some of them have different amperage and even voltage. This can potentially kill a computer, a battery or a connector. (this probably gave the cup d' grace to the battery, and if you have bad luck, it might even have killed the battery connectors to the laptop. Requiring a very expensive repair )
If you are buying a new pc, remember to check reviews on both amazon, newegg (certified buyers) and perhaps websites. (write the model of the laptop and then "review") to see how stable, how good the performance is and how reliable they are.

That way you wont end buying a lemon or cheap disposable computer. Even the top manufacturers have these kind of throwaway computers for low prices.

In the good side. Thanks to AMD Ryzen and AMD Threadripper processors and platform, Intel was forced to lower their prices.
Which means you should be see a bit of discount when buying computers.

I'm not picking on you or trying to start any arguments but this scenario is something I have seen happen at airport gates and on planes. And I don't get it? How are families not sitting together? When I book my tickets I pick out my seat, and have that assigned seat for months. I thought this was something people do, pick out their seats upon purchase.

I know that Southwest doesn't have assigned seats, and the cheapest class on Delta seating is assigned at the gate. I suppose last minute tickets would have this problem too,and I suppose sometimes there is a goof by the airline but otherwise why not just book seats together? Again, I'm not trying to start any arguments, but it does baffle me a little.

Probably has to do with overselling.
I've been thrown from the planes a few times in the USA even if I had bought tickets almost a year ago.
No idea how their damn priority works when selecting who stays and who doesn't.

Thanks, this was a week to forget. Sister told me to take Flonase for my allergies. I thought I was going to lose my body. Worst drug ever for me. Too many side effects to say on here. Tomorrow, Tuesday were are spending the day with daughter, our grandsons, and the new boy friend. The boy's start school next week.

Sympathy like, Bets.
I took Flonase for about a week several years ago and don't remember any intense side effects, but, we're all different. Plus, I have slept since then ;), so I may just not remember the side effects. :cyclops:
Hope you and the Doc can get the meds dialed in and you feel better soon...! :)

Also, hope the visit with DD, GSs, and DDs boyfriend went well...! :)

It's stuffing on the bottom of a casserole, followed by half a homemade gravy, followed by turkey, with the rest of gravy, and mashed potatoes on top. I put this in the oven with saran wrap and cook for an hour at 350 degrees. It is a left over casserole. Using up turkey, with the gravy, and making new mashed potato, and stuffing. It's really good. Sometimes, I freeze it and take it out, to thaw in the refrigerator. Great way to have another Thanksgiving. Applesauce or cranberries, go well with this....

Oh my!
This sounds YUM-O-RAMA, Bets...!!!!! :hungry:

I don't get it either. If you know when you are to board the plane, you should know BEFORE if the seats are together. With having to put birthdates of all passengers in when booking a flight, it'll show a minor passenger.
