She was a pretty fun aunt most of the time and I have a lot of great memories because of her, but she had three kids and she was definitely not a good mom. People like that are great if they're anecdotal for you, but not if they're a main character in your story :p
Amen to that! It's quite different when you are constantly on the receiving end of the antics that everyone else thinks are funny because they are ridiculous.

I felt STARVING after 17 hours of labor. I cannot imagine going two full days!! His mama deserves the week off, not him!!
They gave my dinner to DH because I wasn't allowed to eat during active labor. So he ate my dinner....I had 20 hours of labor (dd was 9 lb 4 oz) that started the night before, long after the dinner hour. It had been more than 24 hours since I had eaten. I was STARVING...4 hours after she was delivered, they finally brought me a dinner tray...2 whole slices of bread. That had to tide me over until the next morning at 10 am...when I got THREE slices of bread. I was BEGGING for food by the time we were both released to go home.

My husband was smart enough to "go for a walk" instead of eat in front of me :hilarious:

Boy, y'all are making me never ever want to get pregnant with these stories. Like, ever.
Lesson: When you are packing your bag for the hospital, pack snacks. Make sure they are easily accessible. I would have been fine if I hadn't delivered just after the dinner hour. The hospital kitchen was closed, so they couldn't make me a warm meal anymore, and by the time they got me in my room for the night, visiting hours were over, so my husband couldn't go out and bring something back for me. It was after 9pm when I was brought to my room, which I shared with 3 other women and their babies. So it wasn't like he could just hang out there outside of visiting hours. There was nothing open in the hospital to provide me with food and no one could come and bring me something from the outside...plus, all the grocery stores closed around 7 or 8...the ONLY thing that would have been open at that hour is McDonalds. I just had bad timing. But, you can prepare for that.
