So that tells me they'll have the entrance for the private party in the "Timon" parking lot (which is funny because that's the old name from 2001 for that section of the parking lot), and then have Cars Land dressed up for the premiere party itself.

I can't believe TDA is going to close Cars Land early on a Saturday. That will be ugly for them.
This isn't June 17th is it? Or is it June 10th?

I wonder if this means APD's substation is being re-modeled?

Funny you should mention this. One of my rebel spies reported seeing spray painted utility notations on the asphalt around the Roundhouse and we had no idea what it could be.

Doesn't it seem a little late to be adding new amps to the ride when it is due to open so soon?

It kind of does, but who knows? It could be that once they got into full testing, (and playing all the new music at the desired levels) they discovered some clipping or something. This could be as simple as swapping out the amps for beefier models with more headroom. This could require extra panel / breaker work as well.

I really hope this isn't the case. People go to school to study this stuff, there should be no question that what was installed originally could or could not handle what they would need it to, for years to come.

Until you do full testing you don't know what a system will or won't handle. You can build a system for all scenarios in the world, but until you do real world testing you don't know if you missed something or something needs to be adjusted. Its why testing is done.

Or some celebrity Imagineer like Joe Rohde decides 60 days before opening that some hallway or corner of the queue or a specific ride scene needs more bass, or more treble, or louder effects. And so they change it last minute to get it right, because Disneyland isn't Knott's or Six Flags.

I think the most likely reason for the new audio equipment is that the existing stuff is a decade old (unless they've changed it already). Eventually, the equipment will wear out so they're likely just taking this opportunity to upgrade everything so they can get another decade of reliable use.
