It will quickly loose it's charm if more people wind up using it over the regular boat launches and it has a longer wait. Curious as to what vessels they are using for this, I'm guessing it's not the standard transport boat.

Since the announcement says the boat can take up to 10 people, my guess would be they are using the pontoon boats. My husband booked an Epcot fireworks cruise for my 40th birthday & the boat could hold up to 10 guests.

It's about time Disney started having more exclusive programs for Muffy and I. Now, if we could only get an exclusive club in WDW as well. I don't have these New World Order issues in DL.

On a serious note, it would be so much better if they would just finish the walking path between GF and MK.

Oouuu, goody-goody. Now I can pay 20 bucks for a one way trip to the Magic Kingdom, instead of riding with the normal riff-raff that frequents the Grand Floridian.
It's a bit absurd for MK, but if I had a reservation at California Grill and the monorail was a mess as it often is (e.g. Express is down so the resort line is jam packed), I could see the appeal. Staying at GF is a luxury already. What's an extra $20 for a private boat ride? And if it would take me to Artist Point, it's certainly worth it.

What if you were planning to propose to someone at dinner? Might this be a nice way to start?

So people complain that the deluxe resorts at WDW are no different than the average Hampton Inn, just way more expensive, so when the supposed flagship resort of WDW offers a new service, which is not available at the average Hampton Inn, people pan that as well. The wheels on the bus go round and round....

I don't see this being very popular. We used Uber quite a bit our last visit but that usually cost less than $10/trip. $20 for a water shuttle with limited destinations that already have at least 2 ways to get there, I don't think so.

Water taxis are in most coastal cities. It's not different than taking a cab..except for the fact that you're on the water and a better experience. $20 for up to 10 people is not outrageous.

That's what I think. Great option for dining reservations. Do we know if this will go to WL and FW?

Hit the nail on the head.

The issue is that you could get an Uber, on demand to get you to either of those locations for less than $10. That's my biggest complaint.

One question I have is are you sharing the boat with other families or couples if you have less than 10 people, and is the $20 charge split then?

That's absolutely true. I love uber and it saved me a great deal in Las Vegas two weekends ago. However, I'm not certain the average Grand Floridian guest party is necessarily pinching pennies the way I would. Further, some would welcome the boat ride over the uber ride purely for the trip itself in a boat over a car through stop signs and traffic.

We stayed at the Grand over the summer for a week. We weren't pinching pennies by any means, but I think I worded my statement poorly. My issue isn't so much the $20, it's the lack of being "on demand". With Uber, I could open my app when we left our room in Conch Key, and by the time we got to the lobby, the vehicle was usually there. With this I have to call a number and make a reservation. Even if it took 15 minutes to do so, that's alot less convenient for me than getting the Uber. The lower cost of the Uber is just icing on the cake.

I agree that the boat ride is much more pleasant and may be worth the possible inconvenience.

Like I said, I don't see many people using this for MK unless the are a large party.

What I do see is people making reservations to get to their ADRs or maybe Sammy Duval's, or Chip n Dale's campfire at FW if that resort is included. We have a Chef Mickey dinner reservation during our GF stay..if I can make a water taxi reservation at a certain time then I won't need to deal with the guesswork of how far in advance I should leave to get to CR, then we could take the monorail back to GF. This would be even more valuable for the non monorail resorts.

It only runs until 6PM making it pretty useless for dinner ADRs at any of the deluxe resorts. I guess you can use it for breakfast or lunch ADRs but is that really going to be something used a lot?

I never said it was a bad idea, I think the implementation is going to be such that unless they have a fleet of boats, it will turn away more people than it can handle.

20 bucks and I don't have to sit with the rabble? Count me in.

I can see myself wearing a smoking jacket, captains hat, family crest pin on a lapel and the finishing touch would be a velvet cape as I travel across the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Jimmy Thick- If you're staying at the GF and can't afford a 20 water taxi, you probably should not be staying there.

Breakfast would be great use of it in my opinion. Our Chef Mickey reservation is for 6pm.

I don't think they would use a fleet of boats, I think they would use a pontoon like someone else stated. I've seen plenty of pontoons being decorated in birthday flair for a family to take out..I've also noticed that the pontoons get rented less than the other equipment. Obviously that's only my personal experience, but I think a lot more people are interested in the Whalers and Sea Raycers when just renting for an hour.

I just don't think there needs to be a huge demand for this, I do think there will be interest. I think for some people a boat ride on Seven Seas lagoon is a more attractive option than a crowded monorail or taking an Uber...with again, the added benefit of having a set time to leave for your destination.
