Frozen - Live at The Hyperion

Is it anything like "Bugs Bunny's Bourbon Street Follies" that played at Marriott's Great America in its first seasons? I actually liked that show at the time (all because of Mel Blanc's recorded singing), but it's a grade-school assembly presentation compared to something on the level of Frozen Live. The theater was pretty nice, though.

For those that never heard of the show.

This is the "big show" they offer during peak seasons at the bigger Six Flags parks that have a "theater" space to use.


Suddenly DCA's new Frozen stage show just got even better.

The audience is completely silent. I seen older Looney Tunes shows at Six Flags from the 80's and 90's that at least tried to give some life to the shows instead of this.

That is exactly what I saw! Except it wasn't Mel Blanc but a very bad imitation.

That might have been the same voice of Bugs Bunny heard in the Looney Tunes Show.

I love how the voice actors for the characters don't seem to care about there singing.

Just to be fair the Knotts live Peanuts show is pretty horrid too. That's the kind of thing you get in the kids areas aimed at five year old.

From the Miceage update this week:

"Speaking of showtimes, the show is currently only running three shows per day while the cast and crew continue to rehearse in the mornings. Expect Disney to ramp up to five showings per day this summer."

I couldn't imagine only two different actors (at least thats what I've seen in the videos online so far, maybe there are more than two) doing Anna and Elsa approx 30 times a week. They must have other actors in rehearsals right now learning the roles to get the show ready for 5 shows a day.

This is the first I've seen of this Elsa, love her voice.

I think this is the same Elsa from the first public showing, but she sounds great here! In the first performance video her voice sounded really tired, but i can only imagine how much they rehearsed before the opening so its kinda expected. I think this Elsa is moulding into the role nicely!

Some subs are approved for other shows at the resort. This applies to both the principals and the ensemble.

After I listened to the original girl again you're right, they are different but their vocal quality and sound is very very similar!

I believe at Magical Map there are usually a half dozen or more for each of the six principal roles. I've heard that right now there are at least two performers approved and "put-in" for each major role at Frozen. And the ensemble performers typically learn more than one "Track" (or position) and swing performers learn all the tracks for their gender. I believe there are around 8 or 9 tracks each for male and female dancers at Map. I used to know someone who worked backstage.

The article is ridiculous. It doesn't make sense of its own positions. And I'm going to scream if one more person says "well what if they cast a white Tiana?!?!?"

Tiana's race is central to her storyline; it's an actual story element. Elsa's race is not a story element. She lives in a fictional kingdom in a fictional time, and there is room for theatrical interpretation. This is not rocket science folks

I think their main point is that you'd never see a performer with a different ethnicity to the character in any other place at a Disney park.. Cinderella is always white in the parade, castle show, meet and greets etc.

Saying that I personally have a problem with it within a Broadway style show but I can see why people say it is challenging character integrity, it's still in a theme park which presents itself as having the real characters after all.

But the Hyperion doesn't - the Hyperion has always been "actors performing a show". That's the official story. If you met Aladdin in the park while Aladdin was running at the Hyperion, he'd be the first to tell you those are actors playing him.

That's what Disney has gone with for the Hyperion shows and in that context, it works.

That's what Disney has gone with for the Hyperion shows and in that context, it works.

Exactly! To both your posts. I made that exact point in the comments to the article.. Tiana's race is integral to the story. As is Mulan's, as is Pocahontas' ... Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Frozen, Sleeping Beauty etc... not so much.

Also, why has there never been outrage over the lack of first nations women playing Pocahontas? It is always white women... or at least most times it seems to be.

The new Harry Potter and the Cursed Child revealed casting for Ron, Hermione and their daughter Rose...the latter two being black actresses. Rowling herself stated that Hermione's race was never given in the books (despite the movies) and has endorsed the casting. Will be interesting to see if there is any uproar from the Potter fanbase over this as quite honestly, it's much larger and potentially much bigger than the Frozen fanbase.
