Bathroom organization tips

I'm wondering how everyone else goes about keeping the bathroom/sink area organized during their trips to WDW. That is one spot that I always feel I have stuff tossed around, and thrown all over the place. My next trip is going to be for a week, and I am sharing a room with my 25 year old nephew. So I don't want him to have to deal with all of my stuff all over the place.

I do have a hanging luggage organizer, but it doesn't feel like everything stays organized in it. :in pain:
Any tips? I'm wondering too if you use a puff with your body wash in the shower, how do you hang it up? Do you bring along a little suction cup or something?

Any suggestions would be great!

Where are you staying? Different resorts have different counter/storage space which will impact my answer.

Generally speaking, I keep every item I/we use daily out and on a counter in a spot where it's easily accessible without being annoying and in the way. Everything that we bring that's a "just in case item" (neosporin, allergy meds, Tylenol) stays in a toiletry bag in a suitcase or on a nearby shelf so it's out of the way.

As for your shower puff, I believe most resort showers still have that clothes line type thing. You can hang it right on that, putting the line through its loop.

I just use the washcloths provided and leave them on the floor with the dirty towels, and housekeeping replenishes.

I tend to stay in the Deluxe resorts and they have nice long shelves running under the mirror. Even traveling with 2 teen girls, we have enough room.

I would definitely consider using your hanging organizer and put it either on a towel rack or the door to the shower/water closet.

In my experience, closets are very close to the bathroom sink areas and the top shelf can hold extra items, or even your hanging organizer. Shelving (for towels) above the toilets can also hold items. Contemporary has the least amount of counter space in my experience, but does have some shelves under the sinks. Good luck and enjoy!

The last time I went, I used a Vera Bradley hanging organizer for my deodorant, toothpaste and shaving razor. I used a Vera Bradley medium sized cosmetic bag for Q-Tips, my hair brush and hair comb and my toothbrush. I just kept my shampoo and conditioner on the side of the tub.

We always pack an inexpensive verticle shoe organizer and hang it in the closet. Each person gets a "slot" or two for their toiletries and the leftover spaces hold magic bands, sunscreen, etc. It's super light and folds down to almost nothing in a suitcase. Works great for our family.

Shoe organizers are a great thing for all of your bath products and those hooks that you can attach to the top of the door are nice for extra towel storage.

I have a plastic zip lock bag with a couple of those locking suction cups to hang my shower puff. I find it interesting that Disney bathrooms aren't standard as far as what is provided in the tub/shower, like a soap dish with the little bar to hang a wash cloth. And sufficient towel bars so you can hang your damp towel to dry for reuse. My toiletry bag is one of the hanging ones from LLBean. If you purchase the medium and up sizes, it comes with a small removable mesh bag with pockets on both sides that will hold travel size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash AND a shower puff. It has a hanging hook so you can hang it on the shower curtain rod. Another pet peeve...soap dishes for the sinks. If you are going to provide facial soap that most people use to wash their hands, how about a soap dish? Surely Disney can afford soap dishes in their Value and Moderate resorts. Nothing fancy, plastic will do. But then, I pack a bottle of moisturizing hand soap...

And because I don't like my toothbrush laying on a counter I don't know how clean it is, I grab one of the glasses (after cleaning it..I've heard stories about how the glasses provided in hotel rooms are "cleaned") in the room to store my toothbrush and toothpaste.

The CBR has double vanities with a storage shelf underneath to store your toiletry bag and a little shelf running the width of the mirror which gives you more surface area in addition to the counter top for your bath things.

By the sink/vanity: I place the items from my 3-1-1 bag (moisturizers and sunscreen, etc.), a small fabric pouch with my meds, makeup and hair things, and another small fabric pouch with First Aid items, either: (1) below or next to the sink, wherever there is a storage shelf; or (2) inside my eBags "pack-it-flat" toiletry case, which I can hang from the clothes bar or on a towel bar next to the sink. My husband prefers a little fabric dopp kit for his shaving and hair supplies, which he tucks away under the sink as well, when not in use. We take a very minimal number of beauty/hair products with us, but if you have a large number of things that you plan to take, I would suggest a lightweight, foldable caddy that you can use to organize everything, and then you can easily stow it on a shelf or in a cabinet when you're finished. (e.g., http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/mesh-shower-tote/127960)

Toothbrushes (we always pack new ones, to avoid the chances of forgetting them) and toothpaste are placed upright in a cup which is left next to the sink. It's the only thing that stays on the counter the whole time, so everything looks nice and tidy.

In the tub/shower area, I put a sample-size spritz bottle of Febreeze on the back of the toilet, shaving supplies and any special shampoos in one corner ledge of the tub, and the loofah hung over the faucet or handle inside the tub.

That's it! Unpacking and organizing the sink and bathroom areas (including doing a quick once-over of the horizontal surfaces with an antibacterial wipe) takes us about... well, 90 seconds. :)

At home everything goes back into the cupboard as soon as I use it.

Depends what hotel you are in, I think the deluxe resort bathrooms have a shelf under the sink that you could move things to. But generally there is plenty of space on the counter, so for two people it's easy to keep things tidy.

I just can't imagine hauling enough stuff to WDW to even have to worry about it

I'm with you -- to me, the idea of taking more than I need with me is stressful. I love packing light, and the freedom it gives -- it's amazing how little we really need when traveling. On the other hand, there are people for whom the idea of "not bringing enough" is what stresses them out, and they're not comfortable traveling unless they are bringing half of what they own. I once watched (and was duly horrified by!) a Youtube video about "how to organize your WDW hotel room," and the woman narrating it proudly showed how she "organized" the sink area of her Disney hotel room -- with a giant cosmetic case, a kit full of nail polishes and mani/pedi supplies, a hairdryer brought from home, curling irons, straightening iron, electric toothbrush, electric face buffer (I kid you not!), full-sized First Aid kit, full-sized bottles of hairstyling products, etc. Her beauty supplies alone would take up more space than my entire 21" piece of luggage (which is all I take to WDW for a week)! Yet she clearly thought that this was a reasonable amount of stuff to bring, and felt that she had so "nailed it" when it came to packing appropriately that others would like to watch her video and emulate her (and I'm sure some people do). To each his own. :)

I have mostly small travel sized bottles of stuff, I just don't want to leave it out where I feel like I am hogging the counter space. But for my mouth alone I need toothpaste, floss, rinse, and a toothbrush. Add to that face wash, moisturizer, and a smattering of makeup. Then there are those things like band aids, sunblock, aloe vera gel, and it all starts to take up space.
