you know, this is something that I hate of being in Mexico.
the variety of products.

I could just go to any big super market in Houston and find hella bunch of brands, variations, products..and gourmet stuff.
Here you're lucky if you find like.. more than 4 brands of the same.
Most of the market is dominated by certain big brands. Rarely leaving room for better or different products.
This is good and bad. I find myself overwhelmed with so many products, and you can often pick bad ones. But no selection is not good either, I remember those days in the 50's here.

Update, jammie day was over about 3 hours ago, the snow stopped. We have 24 hours to clear sidewalks and driveway. Hubby and I have been shoveling the last 3 hours. The good thing...took a nice hot shower and back in fresh jammies. Dinner of roasted veggies and black forest ham, with cheese for hubby all done. Now, I'm going to look for a good movie. Have a great evening everyone! xoxo:joyfull::joyfull::inlove:

Oh no!!! Did the roads close? Do you know how far it reached? I wonder if Laramie got dumped on.
We have amazing snow plows, early was seeing road closures this afternoon, the streets are clearing with the plows and most importantly, the sun. It's amazing at this altitude. Tonight some places, including ours will freeze again. But, we will be cozy and sleeping!

Yep...it does get a bit spooky. DD taught herself to read, too. I had put the kids down for a nap and I was going upstairs for something and heard talking, so I was about to get really angry, but as I came up, I saw DD kneeling at her brother's bed, reading him a book because he couldn't sleep. I hadn't even known she could read. She was 3 or 4. DS was the same way with numbers. When he was 5, we had played monopoly, just the 2 of us, because he was home sick from school. When we were done, we each counted our own money and he asked me how much I had. And then says "Oh! I had ...... so I had .....more than you." And he had it exactly right...in the thousands, and he added in his head in just seconds. Very disconcerting and yet awe inspiring. He tends to get bullied at school, partly because of that, and partly because he cries a lot. Kids think he's weird. We've been VERY fortunate that all his teachers up till now see past the "weird" and appreciate him for who he is and that he really is a sweetheart behind all the strange stuff. They've all been encouraging of him and supportive. I dread the day he gets a crappy teacher who doesn't "get" him. I had my share of awful teachers, but with a kid like DS, it could be particularly damaging because of how emotional he is. DD is much better able to cope and she's very social and everyone likes her, even though she's a "brain". There are very few who aren't her friends and those are mostly the kids who are just very envious. Her teachers love her because she's always smiley and enthusiastic...as much as her brother cries, that's how much she's bubbly. They've both had fantastic teachers, and DD only had a bad one in kindergarten, but she had 2 teachers then and only one was bad. I'm grateful.

Oy. It seems to be tougher on real smart guys than girls from what I have observed. It balances out more in high school, here anyhow. For some reason the 7 gifted kids in my DD class in elementary school 4 boys, 3 girls. It was the boys as they got older and especially in middle school started playing stupid to fit in.

My DD tried to play and still does 'invisible.' She doesn't like any attention drawn to her, she'd be a friend and nice to everyone but actually by her choice had a small inner circle of friends. She also had enough kids through elementary and high school that tried to use her in lieu of doing their own work. The upside to all that is now that she has graduated college which aside from group projects never had issues about all that there and at her new career, almost a year now she has bounced to the top of the pack of her department at the University where she works and they happily have repeatedly conveyed this to her. So the road was long and spooky at times but as they find ways to 'deal' during childhood there is usually a good outcome. The seven she started out with all survived, most graduated college, 2 taking a bit longer but those 2 guys finally got a grip on it. My DD strength is all related areas to math and love statistics, you can see it in her eyes as she is working everything out in her head, you can tell still that she is in that 'other' world.

It's spirit week here too. Do you have "themed" days? Yesterday was messy hair day. Today is sports team day. (My daughter wore her Indians jersey.) Then hat day, pj day and school pride day.
I always loved spirit days at school...one of our favorites was "dress like your teacher" day. So we had one teacher who always had her hair a certain way and she carried a yard stick, and wore long skirts or dresses with a blazer. So someone would do her hair that way and carry a yard stick, etc. Our other favorite was "come as you're not" day. A lot of boys would come as girls, a lot of girls came as pregnant women. Always fun.
