Good morning, everyone. Just me, checking in.

Yesterday was my normal day off and it happened to be a holiday. So I get today off too!! Sitting in my Jammie's until I have to pick kids up from school. And I might not even change then.

tornados or just heavy rain?

Heavy rain and wind. As far as I know we didn't have tornadoes up here, looks like Iowa did, they are checking. We still have the real high winds with the skyway shut down. I looked out the back window earlier and see the light top to my pole light next to my driveway had
blow away. Will be interesting to go out and survey what happened overnight. I'm in no rush though.

Different in every state, but in MA, if you do have to show up on your appointed date, that is considered having served (regardless of whether or not you get put on a jury, or get sent home). As long as you show up, they can't call you back for 3 years. However, in my case, where the courts cancelled all jurors for tomorrow, they still consider it fulfilling your obligation, even though you don't have to come in. BUT, they only let you off the hook for a year in my (cancelled) situation, versus 3 years in the other actual "served" scenario.

But what causes them to cancel it? Why wouldn't they suddenly need a jury?

I don't know what happened in her case. My dh had his cancelled because of a large number of plea deals. I think they call enough people in just in case most cases go to trial.

It didn't go to trial or went to trial by judge instead.

Just wanted to say thank you to you all for letting me be part of your little thread and for being kind. I have really enjoyed coming here and you brighten up my day. I often feel isolated from other people because we live far away from friends and family, so it's nice to have people just to chat with.

We are glad to have you. I love that our chat room is "growing" new people!

In all seriousness, have a great time.

We're going to an event this Friday night at the Long Island Aquarium called Fish and Sips where they have like 20 or more wineries with booths. They give you a glass at the door and you sip all night. So, I guess on Friday I'm just having "a glass" of wine too.

Don't forget your swim trunks! @donaldtoo has a nice pair!

We had pretty heavy rain here too, the snow is supposed to go north of us to your area of Wisconsin. I've been busy tonight packing for WDW.

I hear this all the time! Kids are convinced that our urban backyard is plenty of space for a horse. They have figured we'd save a bundle because we wouldn't need a car anymore. Lol

Kids and horses make a great combo. I still think riding the merry go round, with the beautifully painted horses is fun.
