I'm in deep, deep trouble! I called the store where I got my last sewing machine from and now I'm thinking about going one model up from the one I was thinking about:hilarious: It has even better reviews and it has a bunch of Disney embroidery designs built in. It's still $200 less than I spent on my last machine. Is there any chance any of you will try and talk me out of it? LOL
But...if we talk you out of it, how are we going to get you to embroider Disney stuff for us? :P

That will not happen for tonight because I have a finance test tomorrow, and you need documentation in order to reschedule the test, so I have to take it, although I'm feeling confident with the material. So I have to study.

My Inside Out blue ray came yesterday, so maybe I'll watch that tomorrow after I come home for the day. Oh...another stupid story. THe blue ray was supposed to be delivered Saturday. It wasn't. I called the post office. Oh, we scanned it wrong; it'll be delivered Monday. Monday comes, no package, so I go up to the post office. They say they'll investigate, call me Tuesday. Tuesday, I call my mom. No package, no phone call. I call them. Turns out a new substitute driver delivered it to a completely different street, not anywhere near us and not even sounding like our street name. Thankfully, the person who got it was honest and sent it back.:banghead:

No. More. Stupidity!
I think sometimes mail carriers just can't be bothered. There are some mistakes that are logical...like, our neighbors around the corner have the same first initial as my husband and the same last name as us. So it makes sense that something addressed to M. Lastname on our street goes to the wrong M. Lastname. But something that's on a completely different street, no resemblance of name...how do they deliver that to the wrong address unless it's just like "Oh,...I already went there today, I must have missed this piece of mail and I don't feel like going back, so I'll just dump it in a random person's box. "?

Sorry...completely misunderstood. I thought we were talking about elementary school children.
Here it's k-12. Doesn't matter..once you are at least 5 years old, you need to be in school every day it's in session unless you are sick or have special permission. If you miss and they find out, you get a fine. My FIL said it's 500 Euros, and I'm assuming that's per kid per day, but I don't know that. Not worth it, though. I can almost buy a flight to the US with that!

We have a kid who for two years now has been ditching or not showing up to school. He said he "missed" the bus and couldn't get a ride and said it was too far to walk or ride his bike. Anyway, long story short, the other day our principal found him at the public library playing computer games. The kids had missed the bus again but could make it to the public library....less than a block away from the school. So I guess that one block more to the school is just to much for him.
Oh my....I'm betting he gets in trouble for that. There are a few kids at the elementary school who are consistently 5 to 10 minutes late. I don't know if the school just doesn't do anything about it, or the parents don't care if they get in trouble. Most of these kids really can't afford to be late, either...they are the kids who struggle in school, and that's probably why!

O.k. So here's my pumpkin question for either @MOXOMUMD or @figmentfan423. Is there any difference between Libby's canned pumpkin, and something called "pumpkin puree"? Is pumpkin puree advanced--I mean, do you have to get a real pumpkin and cut it up and throw in a blender to puree it? (That sounds like a lot of work. o_O )

So the reason I'm asking is because I have maybe 2 cups more of the whole wheat flour in the bag, left over after I made the cranberry breakfast loaf last weekend. I looked up pumpkin bread recipes, and one said you can use Libby pumpkin from the can, and the other recipe said to use pumpkin puree. Can either one of you explain this mystery to me? If puree is different from canned, then I won't use that recipe; I'll just use the canned recipe.
There is no difference, other than canned will have preservatives, etc. Pumpkin puree is just fresh...it's what you make yourself as opposed to a can. Most recipes I have call for one can of Libby's, but we don't have canned pumpkin here, and I don't know how many cups a 15oz can of Libby's is, so I look for recipes that call for pumpkin puree, because I can measure it. There might be some difference in consistency depending on what kind of pumpkin you use to make your puree.

The woman was old. Mid sixties. I think some people need to retake the test. I wonder how many of them would actually pass.

Oh, and MD took parallel parking off their driving test. Which just allows more bad drivers on the road IMO.
In some places I think they do make you retest after a certain age. I wish they did that in Wyoming. My dad really should NOT be driving, but the only way they will make you retake a test is if your doctor, the police, or a concerned family member asks for it, and they can't hide the identity of the person who asked for it. I was hopeful when he had his strokes that the doctor would take it away, but he just told dad not to drive unless it was absolutely necessary.

I just finished boxing up my old machine:( I tried to get it to work yesterday and nope it's done. My dh has tomorrow off so we're going to look at sewing machines tomorrow morning. :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: I know what I'm getting for Christmas, now I have to talk him into the one I want. He trusts the owner of the place we're going as he's honest and will always match the price elsewhere not to mention they thrown in a few goodies when you buy a new machine:joyfull: Reputation is everything with a local business. I seriously thought about ordering one off the internet but would much rather support a local business. No sewing for me until after Christmas:( at least it will give me a bit of time to think about my first 6 projects as it will be fun going through all my craft books and magazines once the weather turns colder.:joyfull:

I'm so tired. I worked until 10:30 last night, then biked home like a bat out of you-know-where because I was alone and it was dark. Got home and DD woke up with pain and couldn't get back to sleep. Finally got bed at about 1 a.m. and then this morning, DS is having a bad day...looks like he's getting a molar so he's in pain and grouchy. First he had a meltdown because he couldn't find the socks he wanted to wear and no other socks would do. (They are new, and still soft/flexible, not stiff) Finally found the socks...he forgot daddy told him to put them on the dresser since he had only worn them home from soccer yesterday. Then we get downstairs and he had a meltdown because DD asked if she could play on the ipad. Every day, DS is the first one up, he gets dressed, goes downstairs and plays on the ipad until I have his breakfast ready. So this morning, he was the last one up...I actually had to wake him up, which I NEVER have to do. (already the first indication that he's not feeling well) and so DD asked to play on the ipad, and since she never does, I said yes, and DS had a meltdown because HE wanted to play. Then he fought with his sister over daddy's spot on the couch...she was sitting there and he came downstairs and was mad because that was where he was planning to sit. DD is skipping GRID today because she's exhausted, and I gave them popsicles for their after school snack to combat the ouchy molar growing in. And tonight I have a meeting of the board for choir. I haven't been home a single evening this week. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed today. I so can't wait until Disney!!! Calgon take me away!

Oh how sad...it's so hard to have to get rid of the old appliances we know and love. I can't sew other then hemming pants or sewing on buttons. I had a hard time getting rid of my old clam phone last year when I got my smartphone. And getting a new mixer this year was a real ordeal.

So the latest drama for today:

I was volunteering this morning before my class with some members of my religious group. We went to go get lunch, me and one of my friends, who is actually my parents' age. I was driving because the other person there was my adoptive grandmother, and adoptive grandpa told her not to drive except for getting there and coming home. My friend has a car with a lock problem, so she drives it, but won't drive other people in it.

So I was driving. I pulled into a parking spot, and realized my passenger couldn't get out, so I backed up slowly to adjust, and my friend who has three kids who she has taught how to drive, so she was watching with me. White car passed, we both saw it, stopped, no issue. Out of nowhere comes this little car, neither of us saw it until it was too late. She says, "Oh, you hit me, your fault." Normally, I would agree, but she was in the wrong lane, and if she had been in her correct lane, it never would have happened.

My friend (I don't think I've ever been more happy about someone being in my car) told her she was in the wrong lane, and the woman starts yelling at my friend. Then the woman calls the police, which was completely unnecessary because neither of us was injured and I wasn't going anywhere. The police officer gets there and tells her that he didn't need to be called, so he exchanges information for us and leaves (no report, county rule says if both cars can be driven and no one was hurt, no report). But I took photos showing that the woman was in the wrong lane and the road was marked (not with yellow lines, but there were arrows and a stop sign that clearly showed it). Still, had to deal with a nasty woman, and now I have to deal with my insurance company. Thankfully, my friend is more than willing to give a statement, and actually already called my dad on my behalf. Basically, we both think that the woman was trying to have an accident for the insurance money. My friend looked at me and said, "Honey, I've been driving for years and years, and if I had been driving, the outcome would have been the same. This is not your fault." Which makes me feel a bit better, but I'm still irritated it happened.

I cannot wait for this semester to be over because it seems like it's just one thing after another....
Sorry, you sure have had a lot to deal with lately. Hopefully the insurance company treats you better then that woman.

I'm really going to miss that machine! I did get my money's worth out of it as I made most of my youngest ds' clothes on it until he went to school, more quilts than I can count, curtains, some clothes for me and a bit of this and that over the years

I will like the snow pictures more when I live somewhere warm. But even me hater of snow admits when a wet snow sticks to all the trees, bushes and buildings it is beautiful. Just snow on roads and cars along with unshovled sidewalks not so much
I joke about snow, and definitely wish I lived in a warmer climate. But, like you it can be beautiful, if you can stay in. Doing that today.
