with all the talk about overcrowding and spreading out the guest would it be the time to connect the AK to the monorail system? You can hop all parks easily but the AK. If it were connected would more people hop and visit during their stay and thin the crowds if they could easily get there? I'm sure this has been a topic before but circumstances are different now.

5 minutes ? seriously if you can get there in 5 minutes from the MK I'll buy you an AP pass
Actually I just ran the times on OLP WDW Transportation Wizard.

Time from MK to Epcot by Monorail 35 minutes

Time from MK to AK by bus 21 minutes

It actually takes less time to get to AK from MK by bus than it does to go from MK to Epcot by monorail.

Maybe they should add a bus route from MK to Epcot and speed things up.

Even less from some resorts, but for the most part, yes, it really is only around 5 minutes longer than most. It's about the same going from AKL to MK, but nobody seems to complain about that trip. I wonder why?

maybe its perception, but I will consider hoping any of the parks but the AK. I spend the entire day there but never consider hoping it.

Perception is a wonderful thing. That's why so many claim that they waited "forever" for a bus, but it was more than likely about 15 minutes. I time it takes the bus/monorail/boat to arrive every single time we enter a queue, and we have waited longer than 20 minutes for a bus exactly ONCE in 17 trips covering the last 6 years. And that was because the bus broke down, and they had to put a new one on.

Nobody said it was 5 minutes from MK to AK. We are saying that on average, getting to AK from a resort as opposed to going to a different park takes only about 5 minutes longer.

Monorails, for whatever reason, are now ridiculously expensive to build and operate. I like them, but I get my monorail fix at MK and Epcot. Plus, when one goes down, there's no easy bypass. Buses are brought in. With the need for that redundancy, spending the millions for an extra monorail makes little financial sense. For the same money, they could erect a new e-ticket attraction somewhere.

I still never understood why they never built a monorail system near Animal Kingdom. Epcot,Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios have them and much quicker compared to bus rides which takes minutes.
