I haven't been to BK in years or Wendy's in decades. Chik-fil-A is way better. We are near a grand opening of the second McDonald's in town, just outside of Walmart. A town of 11,000 with college in session, about 4,000 when college isn't in session. Why on earth do we need two McDonald's? Give us a Burger King or Wendy's instead!

I never feel like Chik-fil-A fills me up. But it is really good. I like Wendy's over BK, though.I haven't been to BK in years or Wendy's in decades. Chik-fil-A is way better.
Do you get the milkshakes?I never feel like Chik-fil-A fills me up.
Good to know that actually getting an education is not a top priority. However, that said, I was your age once during the ice age, if I recall, and any surprise time off was fine with me then too. Of course, that was before I was paying tuition. When I was paying for it on my own, I wanted my monies worth. Every nickel of it.Some professors just randomly cancel classes because they can't make it. Last semester one of my professors cancelled her first week of classes. But hearing what she was like, and then actually having her, it didn't surprise her. And I get to have her for Monday night classes this semester, too! Which is okay, because I hear she keep you for about 30 minutes of the 3 hour time frame, and she cancels half of the classes. And because it's a night class, that makes it even better!![]()

So the high school my son interviewed with this morning/this afternoon doesn't seem to really want him. Mike can pull a few strings (basketball), but Jordan isn't sure he wants to go there now.
He now has an interview at his former high school. When he spoke with the VP (a new one), she said she wasn't saying yes or no, but would let him present his case on Friday.
She wants to know what he's been up to for the past year. He has his ROE from his employer showing he worked for 14 months. If he plays the health angle, his heart and lung problems are already on file. I heard him speaking with her on the phone, he's very well spoken, he should be able to sell himself.
I just spent half an hour scrounging for uniform pieces, and can cobble enough together to get him through the first week or two until I can order some more pants and a #1 dress vest.
Fingers crossed. He has a plan. Now he just has to sell it, and convince them he isn't the useless pot-head he was two years ago.
On the plus side, teachers never complained about his behaviour when he did show up. He was always polite, helpful, and non-interruptive. The problem was tardiness, truancy, and incomplete work assignments.![]()
His ultimate plan is to "take over" my job.Sounds like "selling" definitely runs in the family. Hopefully it works out - he's motivated - and that's the best start.
His ultimate plan is to "take over" my job.
He thinks I make way too much money for the little work I do - which may or may not be true.
The truth is, I am very good at my job; I just make it look easy.
(I'm a shi**y cook, I don't like to clean other people's mess, I'm lazy, I sleep all day, I eat bonbons and watch tv, but gosh darn it, I am good at my job.)
Does that go over very well?On super hot days my husband gets all mad that I "get to sit at a desk in the air conditioning all day" while he's out working. My retort is always something to the fact of me busting my rear in school so I could get a decent paying intellectual job while he was off cutting class and barely graduating. Learning a trade was his only hope at a career. I studied hard so I can sit in A/C - should have thought that through more, buddy.
Must be a fishy thread. The thread on "In-Room Celebrations" reminded me of the book I'm reading about Led Zeppelin. But I think the poster had something a little different in mind.
Moe's Monday!!!My last 7 days at work I've gone to Subway 4 times and Baja Fresh 3 times. I always do their on line surveys and get a free cookie at Subway and $2 off at BF. Moe's is farther away but I think I'll go there Monday for their $5 special.
And that is exactly the epiphany Jordan has recently had. Everyone he worked with told him he was too smart for the job, and to go back to school while he was still young enough. On super hot days my husband gets all mad that I "get to sit at a desk in the air conditioning all day" while he's out working. I worked blue collar jobs when I was 16-20 and didn't do much academically. Then I got motivated. And now look where I am today: not looking for Bob Saget on a Disney fan site. And that is exactly the epiphany Jordan has recently had. Oh sure, them he listens to ....
High class. High. Class.I worked blue collar jobs when I was 16-20 and didn't do much academically. Then I got motivated. And now look where I am today: not looking for Bob Saget on a Disney fan site.![]()
