Sorry about your mother's ankles. Hubby has the same problem. I loved to ice skate, hubby didn't have strong enough ankles to wear skates.

Years ago, I used to do a lot of figure skating. There have been so many improvements over the years with all kinds of skates (figure, hockey, etc.) Often (per your reference to your husband above) when someone thought they had weak ankles, it had less to to with a physical weakness, and more to do with improperly fitted boots on the skates. A well-built boot has a sturdy ankle support built in, and the boot should fit like a glove--which is in direct contract to older ideas that skates were supposed to be big, to fit in pairs of heavy socks.

I'll bet if your husband wanted to go skating now, and had some money to invest in quality boots (either figure or hockey), he'd be surprised at how much better he could skate with the proper equipment. :)

I'm pretty excited for both Toy Story land and Star Wars land (hubby is super excited about Star Wars). I'm kind of glad that Disney isn't bringing Cars Land to WDW. Don't get me wrong I think Cars Land is fantastic, just like stepping into the movie, and a favorite spot for us in California Adventure park but I like that it will be unique to DL. It gives me a reason to go to both WDW and DL when they have things that are unique to each resort. I wish that Disney would make the two Star Wars lands different in both WDW and DL when they build them but I fear that they will be clones of each other.

Betty, I think you should take the grandkids to DL if you've never been. It is great!

I'm psyched! Another vote for Star Wars land!

Good old Henry hoovers for this household.none of these high faluting Dyson gizmo's

I have an old Eureka (yup, not a high end brand . . .). Part of the reason why we got that one (about 10 years ago) is because it uses a 10 amp, versus 12. We didn't have a lot of electrical power and a 12 might have blown a fuse (or some sort of electrical jargon like that). So the 10 is fine. (Again, I rarely clean, so it should last 50 years at my usage . . . :p :hilarious: )

Yep, waaaaayyyyyyy too short. It really needed to be at least a week. But, as I posted previously, we were thankful just to be able to make it happen at all. :)

I was gonna' post about how the move thing went last night, but, I was too wiped out by the time we got back into town at about 10p...
Anyway, Friday while at the coast, DWifey got a call from her mother (she lives with my BIL and our niece) saying that the closing on the house was delayed and that they would not be moving in until next weekend. We assumed BIL was just gonna' pay some weekly rate to keep all the stuff on the trucks 'til then.
Awesome for us! Now, we can check outta' the condo on Saturday morning, and piddle around in town for a bit before heading home, which we did.
Fast forward to about 10a Sunday (yesterday) morning...
DWifey gets a call from her mother asking where we are. WTH?!?!?! o_O
Apparently, what MIL left out of the Friday phone call was that BIL still needed us to come down yesterday to unload everything int o a storage unit, instead...!
I'm leaving out some details, but, by the time we got ourselves (DWifey, myself, an our SIL) all set to go it was about noon. 3+ hour drive to Houston begins. When we got there, he was waiting for us at the storage place with all of the stuff off the trucks (still forgot to ask who helped him with that part, but, there is no way ay he did it by himself - plenty of stuff took 3 of us to put in the storage unit), and about 1/2 of it already in the unit.
I took one look at the stuff still out and how the stuff he already in there was packed. NO WAY IN H**L was the rest of all that carp gettin' in there. so we started to pull things out and rearrange. :bored: After 3-ish more hours in the hot, humid, Houston sun we re finally doe and officially wiped out. :cyclops:
We dropped him off at the hotel and started heading back only to run into the craziest horizontally blowing rain storm for about 10 miles. Road construction barrels were being blown over and into the lanes, so a traffic snarl ensued. Finally, and thankfully, after getting through all that, the rest of the drive back was uneventful, and as I posted up there, we got back into town about 10p. Done.

OK gang, gotta' fly...
Have a Magical day...!
Laterrrrrrr...!!! :)

Oh no! What a hideous way to end such a nice vacation! :jawdrop: :banghead:

Ah, see that's the trick to making appliances lost longer! ;)

Spending time with loved ones is much more important than cleaning! God made dirt and dirt don't hurt, right? ;)

.

That is very good advice you're sharing with @betty rose .

I'd also like to add my own little spin, if I may.

Look at it this way: In 10, 15. 20 or more years, are you going to remember that you cleaned out your closets, or washed and waxed all the floors, or washed and rehung the curtains? I doubt it. What you will remember, however, is that you spent many happy days with both your husband (hiking, picnicing, trip to WDW, etc.) and with your grandchildren at WDW, and back at home going to the movies, having cook-outs in the summer, and watching them grow up

He said with a snooty British accent! ;)

I have two vacuums. One is a Kenmore that is over 25 years old. It's a tank type. About 10 years ago the hose, which contains the wiring for the beater bar started to disintegrate. I tried everywhere to find a replace because it was a good vacuum except for the hose. Now, I'm proud to say I have a very workable vacuum hose that is made up of the original internal structure proudly and neatly wrapped from top to bottom with Duct Tape. It fits right in with my redneck image. I think the tape cost me about $1.39. My other one is a "Red Devil" small upright that I use for quick pickups... Cheap as the come. Loud as they come as well. It cost me $29.00 new.

As that Canadian Philosopher Redd Green said... If you can't be handsome.. at least be handy! :joyfull:

Oh, I've laughed so hard watching Red Green shows!! They're not on anymore on my local PBS stations, but the things he used to create out of duct tape were hilarious!! I also got a kick out of how they'd bring in guys from the broadcast audience to play the "members" of Possum Lodge each week! That show was so funny on so many levels.

Pretty sure that appliances forced quality reduction to push the annoying forced "replacement cycle" . That forces customers to purchase a new one than fix them.
Because.. I swear.. the new washing machines start to fall apart with corrosion in 2 years! not like the 10+ years of the older ones built in the 70's 80's.

My mother told me that she bought a washer and dryer, back in 1958. They both lasted 25 years, and that was for a family of 6.

I wonder if there's a fanfic version of Alice In Wonderland where instead of Alice. It would be Dinah that chases the white rabbit down to Wonderland? Or should I call it Dinah In Wonderland. Am I the only person who wondered what happens if Dinah switched the role with Alice.

I get a kick out of your posts. Often, I'm just not aware of the more obscure characters you mention, but I'm glad that you're happy with so much that Disney has to offer! It's true that there's something for everyone at WDW!

Thank you so much, I really love focusing on obscure Disney characters and giving them more love and attention to the Disney community. Since the majority of Disney fans rarely heard about these characters. I had a huge passion for Disney characters since I discovered Disney by a book I still own called "Disney Storybook Collection" from the late 90's.

Oh no!!!

I have a couple of EPCOT questions for you. Supposedly they opened a kiosk over by Test Track called Taste Track. It was advertised as going to have grilled cheese sandwiches, soups and salads. I've never see it listed in the dining section of the Disney website. Do you know if it is there? If it is, did you try it?
Have you checked out the breakfast at the Garden Grill? I'm wondering what it is like...
First question: yes, it is there. No I have not tried it. It has several different grilled cheese options and tomato bisque. Next time I walk by there, will take a picture of the sign. Planning on trying it in January.
Second question: I have not eaten there. My understanding is that it is characters and family-style, just like for lunch and dinner. I checked, and there was no breakfast menu sitting outside. Sorry I can't help you more.
