The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
For anyone who cares, I've been having a challenging time here here in Israel to the point where I am ready to go home.

First, my iPhone 6 Plus screen started going all psychedelic on me and it cost be 1,000 shekels to fix it because there are no Apple store in Israel. Just a few days later, kids on a bike snatches the phone from my hand and I have never seen my phone since. I am now using an Android LG phone that I hate.

Second, I have still not found an apartment to live. No one wants an immigrant who doesn't speak the language to room with!

Third. Sprained my ankle. Fourth. Got attacked by giant ants when I was sleeping last week. Fifth. Bit the skin in my mouth from nervous tension and my mouth was in pain for days. Ankle is heeling. Mouth has heeled. Ant bites still itch.

Sixth, I met this lady from West Palm Beach who moved to Israel ten years ago who has been trying to control every aspect of my life.

I'm so done with everything. I called home today crying and told my family I was going to cut my trip short and return soon.
I am sorry that your trip has been disappointing.

I'm not here as much as I used to be, so I don't really know what your expectations were going into it.

Was this a religious pilgrimage; a desire to experience the culture; were you running away from problems at home?

Three questions:
1 - Did you have specific goals?
2 - Have you accomplished them?
3 - With a total shift in what you are doing, are they even accomplishable?

As ever Peter, I wish you all the best, but honestly only you know what you should do. If it's time to come home, you already know that. If you can change what you're doing, and make your adventure work, you already know that too.

Good luck either way.

Is it a cost issue? Can you return/cancel it?

I sometimes regret buying something just because I decide, after the fact, that I didn't really need it ... for the price.
I also do that but no its about my second job. I wanted to work less there and I got scheduled less for September but instead of being happy I got worried.
I have a problem letting my mind rest and just be happy. I over think and obsess to the point of ruining my free time and not staying in the moment.
I'm working on it.

We have so much in common! I wish I could turn my mind off at night. I got a notebook and started keeping it on my nightstand. If I keep thinking about something when I should be sleeping I write it in that book and after I know I won't forget it, I go to sleep. A majority of the time it works. Some nights I can fill a page or two though.

You've got to trust your instincts and the good sense God gave you.
If you feel you need to work less, then that's what you need to do. Financial compromises can always be made.

Nobody's head stone ever read:
Gee, I wish I'd worked more and spent less time enjoying life.

(That being said, dang, I really do need to get back to work! :joyfull:)

I'm going to try that. Does it work with feelings too? I get all these negative emotions after being scattered in my thoughts.

What you said here really resonates with me. I just felt my jaw relax a little. Thank you.

Thanks for that! I was just experiencing my first real hit of homesickness since being here. It's 9:41am here now and breakfast at this hostel ends at 10 so I am trying to wake up now. Not religious.

I'm in Jerusalem now and I am planning to go back to to Netanya today to stay with relatives there. Ill type more on the bus there.

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.
Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I thought you had one of those bargain, Walmart Teflon halos; I've heard that all food accidents just wipe away off those. My exquisite sparkling halo, on the other hand, is from Tiffany's. It has always suited me quite well, as I have impeccable manners and would never spit coffee! :p I even extend my pinky finger when sipping from my china cup (with saucer, of course, on the table). :D
I don't beleive they sell halo's at Wallmart (probably getting confused with hula hoops ;-) )
Was born with mine as i have always been practically perfect in every way . . .
