Osborne Lights & Fantasmic Viewing

My best friend and I are going to be at Disney November 10-13. The current plan is to do one day at Hollywood Studios (the 10th). The park hours are currently listed from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. with Fantasmic at 7 p.m. We definitely want to see both the Osborne lights and Fantasmic so my questions are:

1. What time do the lights come on? And how long can you explore after the official park closing?
2. When you recommend seeing the lights - before or after the show? Are the crowds better for one time over the other?
3. We currently have 2 dining reservations for that day - Mama Melrose for lunch with Fantasmic Dining Package or Sci-Fi Diner at 4 p.m. For a bunch of reasons, I'd rather do the Sci-Fi Diner, but am wondering if the Fantasmic seating is a better choice in this instance.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

With a park closing of 8pm, the lights will be on until 9pm. You would need to get into the Streets of America before 8pm though, as entry may be restricted.

Fantasmic at 7pm should allow you to get over to the lights by 8pm, but you will have to be quick getting out.

For us it has often come down to one or the other. We choose the lights because we can see Fantasmic any time and it is much more enjoyable to be there when the lights come on then linger and enjoy them.

Didn't know they keep the lights on for an extra hour. My mistake.

The lights come on a little after sunset. 6 ish or so.

I would skip F! altogether, but if you really want to see it, I would see the lights afterwards. They stay on for a while after closing, so I just meander through the area for a couple of hours enjoying them.

Lights come on around 6. If you want to see Fantasmic and maximize your time, I would recommend sitting as close to the back as possible so that you're one of the first out after the show. Then fast track it over to the Osborne Lights. I can't verify for certain that the lights remain on for one hour after closing. I had them go off right at closing for me.

If theres a chance you might have to miss one I'd say do the Osborne lights and do Fantasmic on another trip. This is a show that will stay with you in your memories for a lifetime. The synchronized music / light show will blow you away. Dont chance just doing a quick walk through....You have to take your time wandering the streets to look at and find all the details. If this show disappears in coming years, you will be hearing from guests that caught it and regret never seeing it yourself. Look for the hidden Black Cat. ;)
