Can I say just how ECSTATIC I am??!!! :joyfull: :joyfull: :joyfull: Kudos to the mayor of Boston today, who refused to sign a document that would have backed his approval for the 2024 Olympics to come to the city! He said that not one dollar of taxpayer dollars would go into any overruns or miscalculations by the group(s) in charge. Basically, he listened to the state's residents--40% or less wanted the Olympics here. (The Olympic Committee won't even consider a venue that has less than 68% of the residents in approval.)

But for me and all my colleagues at work, it wasn't even so much the money, but the commuting nightmare that a major international event like this, would bring to an already over-crowded city, highways, etc. Rush hours around here are a nightmare to begin with.

I'll never forget the roadblocks, etc. when Boston hosted the 2004 Democratic National Convention. That made a commuting mess of the city, and you figure that's not even close to the size and scope of hosting the Olympics.

Oh happy day!!! No Olympics in Boston!!

I think it would be really cool to go to an Olympics and watch. Hubby and I were a little bummed that Chicago got turned down for the 2016 Olympics because it is close and he has relatives we could've stayed with. But listening to stories of the costs to cities for the past few Olympics it doesn't seem to reap much reward for the city itself. I can also see how it could be a nightmare or hassle for residents of the city to conduct their daily lives.

I agree, I'm to frugal to make expenditures like that. I could being a Prime member have Amazon deliver me the next day for a small shipping charge replacement sunglasses to the resort for a fraction of what any would cost me at Disney. I have 2 pairs of good sunglasses, they are RayBan, not cheap. I don't take them to Disney. $20 Target ones. I don't want to be upset at Disney when I loose them, drop or squish them. I remember reading a trip report a while back about someone who stepped on their sunglasses in pool that were worth hundreds of dollars. I also don't travel with expensive jewelry either, same reason.

I used to buy the original Rayban Wayfarers back in the day for $40.
Last time I checked they were $140...$180 for the polarized version.
The cheapies have been doin' me just fine for years now, but, I'd sure like another pair of those Wayfarers again, someday...! :)

Unfortunately, we always go in the winter and I'm afraid that the glare from my pale legs will cause chaos in the Parks... Brings a new meaning to Blinded By The Light!
Well, you could also buy a Grey alien mask.

If that doesnt work.. there is always the Twilight movies "vampire" look.

Nothing better than scare them with your magical brightly paleness ;) :hilarious:

There is. It's called a food processor.
I know, but the only ones I've seen over here.. are restaurant sized processors.. and they still require squeezing via a palette. (I trained and worked as cook and have a Diploma in french food from Le Cordon Bleu)
