I can't sleep with sound. When I first moved out on my own I would sleep with the tv on with the sound down. I think it was a combination of being scared being by myself in a new place (I wasn't far past 18) and thinking the tv gave me comfort. It took a few months to get over that and turn the tv off.

I always seem to need sound. During the week I generally have talk radio going from 9am till about 6pm. Can't say I pay close attention but it keeps my brain from drifting to the dark side. I do that at night too. I don't turn the TV off, it is a distraction from my thoughts. I wake to weird shows in the morning from Raymond to Sponge Bob, very disconcerting first thing in the morning. :in pain:

I'm glad you're enjoying yourself. I love Peter Pan. That's one of first go-to rides in the morning. (I can hear the drums by Princess TigerLily in my head. :) )

Peter Pan is likely one of my least favorite ride *ducks and hides* Don't hate the ride by any means but I put it in the classification of the Tiki Birds, I can take it or leave it. Far from a must do.

Another box of MBs.

According to my account, I have eight. Yet what do I do each trip? Wear the exact same one that I got several trips ago. And if my left hand is still in this lovely contraption, will be requesting a plastic RFID card anyway and won't be wearing it at all (I wear a watch on my other wrist).

Just kinda seems like a waste. Wish there was an opt out feature. They're all just kinda sitting in a stack on my desk.

My first place was furnished with thrift store specials. ;)

Coming out of the produce center yesterday a new thrift shop opened. I didn't go in but there was a floor lamp I'd easily value at $100 in the front window for $11. I kinda look at it like recycling. My DD last 3 years of college hunted down college text books. Paying cents on the dollar over taking the easy way out at the bookstore made her feel really good.

I also admired my DS University. The year he started there they went to having a fee for text books. He paid $250 a semester to rent books vs the $1000 he paid at his first college he started at. It is odd how this varies in education. Where I went to HS everyone has to buy text books, a sham for high school, my kids were just given theirs for the year just like elementary school.

New just isn't necessary for everything. Me cars are a thing. When I get a car I drive it till it won't drive any longer. One of the poorest investments. At least property generally appreciates vs depreciates.

Yep, I do the same thing with eggs, you can tell when they are still fine immediately. I have gone to lactaid milk brand. I can usually purchase a quart that has an experiation date of 6 weeks after I purchase. Rarely do I ever finish a quart of milk around here, nobody drinks it, we cook with it.

Same with eggs for me too. Keep them fresh, keep them in the carton. :)

I waiting for the batteries to start petering out on the original MBs. It is just a matter of time before they start being toast.

They're easy use, but I think I'm good with one new one per year. That way, I would have two, not eight.

Not even using the one they sent me because it has my full first name, which I hate, instead of my nickname. I'll use my old one instead. Again...

most buildings at DHS were inspired by actual buildings in California.

Very interesting series of articles can be found here:

True but out of context for the amazing architecture we were discussing that Disney builds. FL Studios are not amazing, just cheap knock offs of dull. Dull architecture in California or recreated dull in a theme park is dull nonetheless. With the Tower imagineers demonstrated how they could overcome dull when so motivated as is the Chinese Theater. Sadly with the Studios they went overboard with dull architecture ad nausea. They were a cheap, quick build to open before Universal, now Disney is living with the aftermath, a park that isn't inspirational that needs to be gutted at great expense. So much for a lame attempt for trying to mock the California Studios and pass it off as an all day theme park. Some of the attractions have great merit just not the architecture that supports them.

I get that. I've never gone by my full given name either, nor has my DD. My DS does at work vs the various versions he is identified by with me and socially. I with my DD a first name for adult business world and a cute middle name as most use just an initial anyways. She grew up with a condensed version of her first name with a combo of her middle name. I constructed it deliberately when her first name was chosen, by her brother.

I actually never actually named any kid or pet until the current Pup we have. I just tweeked the choices and they stuck.

With me it's a bit different. I was given a first name that I hated and was always finding ways of shortening in elementary school. About the end of fifth grade, I decided that I was going to start going by my nickname when I entered sixth grade, which my mother and brother were already calling me. I know my mother thought that it was just the age and it was something I would do temporarily and then go back to being called by my given name. Almost a decade later, I'm still going by my nickname. I use my given name professionally, but I will correct you if you try to call me by my given name. Other than my dad and my bff and a few relatives, most call me by my nickname. My dad, who goes by a shortened version of his middle name and doesn't even use his given name professionally, is pretty much the only one who doesn't call me by my nickname ever. He says he and my mother worked very hard to pick out my name (which is true; my name was the only one he and my mother agreed on; my brother was simpler; I named him after my favorite Oriole, and they agreed) and he is going to call me by that name. Note: he has a variety of his own nicknames for me that he calls me, so, ya know...

I was at a religious event one time and introduced myself by my full name (this was several years back; I practically never do that now), and the woman I was introducing myself to looked at me and said, "So what do they actually call you?" :hilarious: I guess I looked uncomfortable or something.
