After Buffalo Bill's we went over to the Disneyland park and rode Big Thunder a couple times, Pirates, and the Indiana Jones roller coaster. The indy coaster was okay, it was kind of like Primeval whirl at AK except it didn't spin but went upside down. Then we decided to do some shopping at the World of Disney and other shops in the Disney Village.View attachment 100808

The Liberty ARcade off the side going down Main Street, these were really neat and handy while traveling in the crowd at night.

While shopping I found a Launchpad McQuack! I was so excited I loved Ducktales as a kid!

Well, I hope you're happy, because they are remaking Ducktales!

A shame the Mark Twain is left to rot.

Its the second ship that has been severely damaged.. isnt it?
Not counting the one used as Fulton's.

I know, it is a shame that the Mark Twain is in that condition, I was kind of surprised it is easily viewable by guests (although you have to be on the Molly Brown river boat to see it). I don't know if other boats have been damaged, good research topic...

Good point. The couch and love seat set I was looking at was the same brand as what I have. What I have, I have had for 10 years and the upholstery is worn (because of the dogs mostly) but the frame is in excellent shape. That is why I wanted to get it reupholstered, but I just might end up buying slipcovers as that is the cheapest option right now.

A friend of mine bought a sofa last year from a big discount furniture store, and within the year the stitching was coming out from the cushions. She called the store and they said they'd send her out a new sofa, which they did within a few weeks. So the new sofa is in her livingroom, and within 2 months, the back frame split. (I haven't received her update yet on that one.) Anyway--

Buy decent furniture everyone, and avoid those big discount furniture stores (I won't name the name of the store here, but they advertise in many sales markets across the country).

We've had really good luck with Laz-y-Boy. It's pricey, but really strong furniture.

just be careful. Many studies say now that excess of milk is bad (cow milk that is).
It somehow affects the bones of adults..
making them more prone to osteoporosis (bone decay and weakening).

Really? That's just the opposite of everything I've learned about milk. When did this revelation come out that now it makes you more prone to osteoporosis??!!! (Meanwhile, @JenniferS and @Andrew C and myself, all big fans of moo juice, are having a meltdown over this!!! :jawdrop: ) Recheck your source; it has to be wrong!! :(

I don't remember all the details about the plane, I remember them saying there were only a few left of that model, I just thought it was cool. My grandfather was in WWII in the Europe theater and he didn't talk about it much, he wasn't there for D-day but was there about a week later. I remember that he got wounded and had a piece of shrapnel in his neck because of the war. He never got it removed, it was supposedly in a place that if it wasn't removed correctly it could have paralyzed him. He had four other brothers that all served in WIII, only one was in the Pacific theater (he was in a Japanese prisoner of war camp and was severely tortured but despite that he was the nicest man). All the boys survived WWII which was pretty lucky. I guess that is where my interest comes from. Really anything from the turn of the century (1900's) to the late 1950's is my favorite time period.

I forgot to post this last night...
Regarding your great uncle that was in the Japanese prison camp reminded me of reading Gregory "Pappy" Boyington's autobiography "Baa Baa Black Sheep". He ended up getting shot down and spent about a year and a half in one.
If you've never read it, it's a good read all around.

@ajrwdwgirl , I'm having so much fun looking at all your pictures! I especially like the fact that I'm not the only adult who likes to ride Dumbo or the Teacups (even if you and hubby ride them in Paris, while I ride them at WDW in Florida). I love the new thrill rides, but I also like all the old timey rides from the past as well. Maybe I just like rides!

Anyway, I couldn't help but notice the lack of crowds in some of the pictures--did you arrive right when the entrance opened in the morning? You were lucky.

Loved the pictures of Walt's restaurant. Talk about really nice theming--very elegant. (Oh, @Eric1955 , I hope you get a chance to view her photos today on this thread, that show Walt's restaurant. I think you'd approve of the attention to details, and classic style, befitting Walt. Reminds me a little of pictures I've seen of Club 33 at Disneyland--same upscale, understated yet elegant, approach.)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

No meltdown here. I will continue to drink my 10-oz glass of milk with dinner, and add it to my two nightly cups of tea.
Truth is, I'm more likely to be killed by the water coming out of my faucet.

Yep, same here. Love the heat.
It's just so weird that it's not that hot here in the south (well, it's Texas, so we're interchangeably the south, southwest, or west) this summer.
Call me crazy, but, I like my 100+ degree days. :cyclops:
No, I didn't say that I enjoy standing on the surface of the sun. I just like it warm. It makes me feel like everything I thought the south was like when I was a kid. That appreciation was helpful in getting me through Vietnam as well. I don't honestly remember it ever getting below 90 degrees there, even at night. Once in awhile, after a monsoon like rain, it would drop to the mid 80's occasionally and that was downright chilly. :joyfull:

And OK, you are crazy! ;)

Yeah, the moderator has tried to overcome that. Some of us are pre approved members and our posts don't have to be moderated. Can't tell you when I was there last. Hard to have a discussion when posts are 24 hours apart. I bore to easily for that.

Yea, I really want to go back there too sometimes, but, it's just so frustrating.
I don't get it at all...why would you do that to your forums...?!?!?!?!

Hahaaa...!
This is pretty similar to the first phone (and the one and only phone in the house ;)) I remember us havin' when I was a kiddo. :)

I think this phone was the standard model. We had one identical to this one for a loong time. Before the 'wireless" ones (fixed but with a wireless station) started to get popular.

Nope, I read it in a few magazines.
While milk is acceptable for youngs who have been developing bones.. its bad for adults. Its better if you take the calcium in a different way (like fish)

I have seen them. @ajrwdwgirl has taken some fantastic photos. Walt's restaurant looks beautiful.
