And now it's time for a brief overview of cell phones.

There are two types of phones, basic and smartphone. Basic phones can make calls, text, and some can do basic web browsing and email. Most have a keyboard as opposed to a touch screen. This is a quick way to tell the difference between a basic phone and a smartphone.

The next group is Smartphones. They are devices that generally have more power and can do more, like web browsing, more game, reading, higher-functioning email, etc. The two most popular types of Smartphone operating systems (the phone version of Windows, Mac, etc.) are iOS and Android. iOS is made by Apple, Android is developed by Google. Only Apple devices (iPhones) have iOS, but many manufacturers make Android phones. Most people prefer one or the other. I have an Android phone because of the price, but I have an iPod touch (which basically runs like the iPhone, but doesn't make calls and only works with Wifi, ie, no mobile data) and prefer the iOS operating system over Android. I think it's much more user-friendly.

As a sidenotes, tablets also use iOS or Android in general (minus the Microsoft Surface, which runs Windows). Basically, if it's an iPad, it runs iOS. If it's any other tablet (minus a Surface), it runs Android.

Other types of Smartphone operating systems are Windows Phone and Blackberry. Blackberry is a dying brand. Only time will tell with Windows phones, but they have yet to reach the popularity of iPhone and Android devices (although the Surface is gaining popularity, especially among college students).

As I already stated, only Apple makes iPhones. The most currect devices are the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+. 6+ is the largest device. There is also the iPhone 5s and 5c. 5c will run you the least expensive, while the 5s will be less (and smaller) than both the 6 and 6+, but still more than the 5c (main difference is that the 5c has a plastic back while the 5s has a metal back).

Other manufacturers make Android devices. Google does make their own devices (Nexus) but most Android devices are made by other manufacturers. Unlike iOS, which basically works across all devices the same, different manufacturers can customize Android, so it's slightly different on, say, an HTC phone as opposed to a Samsung device. Generally, if you get an Android phone, make sure it's a brand name device (like Samsung, HTC, Nexus, Motorola, etc.) as opposed to a brand you've never heard of. If you buy an off-brand device, the quality will be questionable.

This concludes your brief overview of cell phones.
Thanks for taking the time to send this information. I love how you explained the difference between iPhones and Android, makes sense to me now. I never understood why a person would choose one over the other. You explained this in terms a total novice can understand.:D:inlove:

I just remembered that after I put all of the photos from Hawaii on my laptop, I set them to upload to Google. Now I can post them directly from my Surface without uploading!

Wonderful pictures! Did you have to climb out of the sighting bunker, and out the window to get to the top? I remember having to do that.

Then back to the main palace and soon back to Paris.

You wouldn't want to live with us, that's for sure. In winter, the heat is about at 58 (if it's really cold outside, like zero or below, I'll break down and kick up the heat to 60 degrees for that). In summer, we'll turn on the a/c to about 62 or so--just enough to make it bearable from the heat and humidity. So far this summer has been good--not too many hotter days, so we've been lucky. (Oh, hubby isn't a fan of my favorite lower household temps; he often walks about here in his hoodie to keep warm?! :hilarious: Such a wuss!)
Ha, I'm with hubby....I would be wrapped in an electric blanket, carrying it around and plugging it in and out.:coldfeet:;)

Oh my. I've heard so many things over the years in regards to the hail dimples thing.
Everything from the hot sun and hose thing that you mentioned, to dry ice, to blow dryers, etc. I've never seen any definitive proof that any of it has ever really worked.
Rather, unfortunately, I've seen videos where none of it works.
Driving around in the sun didn't do anything for our car!;)

Are your friends all on Holiday?
You mean the ones I met at that hostel in Jerusalem a few days ago? Yes, they are all back packing. I didn't go out to see them again when I returned to Jerusalem yesterday because that would have meant me checking into that hostel again, and I didn't know what I was doing. The girl from Barcelona and the girl from Germany are working in that hostel for free room and board and will be there for some time, so I'll be seeing them again next time I decide to check in there. The girl from Hawaii is traveling the world and moved on to her next city the following day. I want to get into more detail about her but I don't think others here want to hear about it, but let's just say I was happy to get to know her and sad that she had to leave so soon.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the girl from Barcelona invited me to stay with her in Spain when Intravel that way and she said she will show me around. The girl from Diesengorf (sp?) insists that I fit Germany in my Euro tour and she said she will also house me and show me around. I promised her I would but we'll see. I left without exchanging information with them, so I should go back there. The girl from Hawaii exchanged info with me like almost immediately when we met. I so much want I tell more details. Okay, I'll do it in a spoiler.

Any way, she went on the guided tour with me in Hezekia's tunnel but we didn't know each other then. When I checked in at that hostel, I found out Incould hang out on the roof. On the roof were other people hanging out, including her. She recognized me right away from the tunnel tour and introduced herself and talked for at least an hour! Then, both of us found out we can actually sleep on the roof and we both said "if you switch your bed to the roof, so will I!" So, we both switched out our rooms to sleeping bags on the roof. We were camped out on the roof next to each other, watching videos with my iPhone together. It was nice. After it got dark, it started getting cold and she chickened out because it was starting to get too cold for her, and she switched again back to one of the rooms insides. I stayed on the roof, freezing all night with little sleep.
