My first car was a VW bug like this one. I loved zipping along in it, plus so easy to maintain!

aaah, the famous bug.. very loud but reliable as hell.
They were the workforce for like.. 50 years of the taxis of Mexico City.
Most of them were then replaced by NISSAN TSURU II. Which are super reliable as well.

the Dalia Llama was at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend

My first look at this new font/layout....looks cartoony

" . . . looks cartoony" :hilarious: You always have your own unique perspective on things! :p (I'm also still trying to get the connection between the Dalai Lama and the forum's new font in the same post; but it is very early in the morning and perhaps I'm not quite up to speed just yet . . . :D )

The last time we were at BB we could not get an innertube. They were full all day and when we tried to walk a little in the water we had no space. :(

Oh no, sympathy like. The only time I go to either BB or TL is right when they open. I only stay a few hours and split when the crowds really hit. There are also times of the year that it's more crowded than others, as well. The lazy rivers are only good with minimal crowds, so that you can just float and relax. (Sometimes, I've seen a few nutcases who just want to splash around, and swim or walk through the river, like it's a regular pool or something. I could never understand those people . . . )

My grandma had a powder blue Ford LTD that was a boat! It was soooo big. I know what you mean about bench seating. When we were little we would never move seats forward to get into mom's back seat of her car. We'd get in the passenger door and fling ourselves over . :joyfull:

Ha ha ha . . . :D Memories!! I also remember that we were like monkeys, climbing/leaping over the front to the back seat, and vice versa at times. :joyfull:

My first new car was a 1970 Buick Skylark, 350, 2 barrel. Loved that car. I kept it until I started to feel that it was not dependable enough to keep. I had it when I met my wife, used it on our honeymoon, took her the the hospital to have our first baby and again to have our second. But, we lived far enough away from the hospitals and had two small children, one an infant and I just stopped trusting it to work for me like I needed it too. When I think back on it. It was amazing how little those cars had for extras. Just AM radio, crank windows, bench seats, no AC, no tinted glass. Almost barren of everything that I now expect to be standard on all cars. Still loved it and managed to take a car that at the time had an expected life span of about 75K miles and ran it 125K. Still hated to see it go.

As my father used to say, "The more stuff that they keep adding to cars, means the more that can go wrong with them!!" :cautious:

I know. I soooo miss the original cast - they were brilliant! Land Shark, Samurai, Weekend Update ("Jane, you ignorant ****"), Roseanne Roseannadanna, nothing can top those characters. One of my favorite sketches was Consumer Probe with the Bag O'Glass toy. :D

Whoops, should've known s.l.u.t. would be censored! LOL
Every now and then, I'll watch it if the host interests me.

We had been watching the news when the School House Rock skit came on. I was doubled over laughing. And then we watched it again. :hilarious:

Every now and then...
I think my favorite skit was when William Shatner shouted "get A Life to the Trekkers" As I was at a ST convention the week before:geek:

I'm so sad! I brought my two cats over to my mom's and grandmother's condo this morning. My cat Pebbles adjusted with no problem, but my cat Cali hid somewhere and we can't find her! She hasn't come out since! On the car ride to drop Cali off, she cried the entire car trip as if she knew something was up. When I got to the condo, she stayed by the front door and cried and would not move. I moved her to another room and she ran towards a corner and disappeared! I looked everywhere for her. Under all the furniture and haven't been able to find her! I hope she comes out soon! I'm really worried!

I have just one more day here before Ingo overseas for six months!
She'll be fine! Cats are smart and she just trying to make you feel guilty!

More good news my father in law was cleared by his doc to do light yard work! He can now ride his mower around the property. He's not allowed to do heavy work such as spitting wood but every little bit helps. We would have liked to go down next weekend but seeing traffic will be quite bad we'll wait for an extra week. My yard is going to get caught up with the 4 day weekend for us

Hahaaa...!
Where's the funnel on that ship...?! o_O ;)
And, we had neighbors in No Cal that had one of those, too (at the time, we had a '64 Olds F-85)...! :) And yea, talk about a boat! But, yet another fine cruisin' vessel...! :inlove: ;) :)

Yes they were. My Uncle had one, not quite as big as our ship but yes a curisin' vessel nonetheless.

My Dad has a Pontiac when I was born, it was pink and gray but I don't really remember it. My Dad only bought Olds in my lifetime, everyone white, still has his sitting on the driveway. He says it is his last car, we shall see, he is 87. My Mom being annoyed with my Dad (self anointed master of the cars) over issues with her car one day went out and bought a new silver Chevy Monte Carlo. Guess who was just besides himself and appalled? Would have loved to have seen his reaction. Giggle.

The Delmont didn't even fit in the garage, width or length. The garage had 2 individual doors with maybe a foot and half between the doors. I remember the moment it didn't fit. I was real small but you tend to remember those moments when Dad has a melt down. The front end looked cool on the Delmont but all those points, it had to be expensive to design and manufacture, let alone repair.

Betsy (the Delmont) lasted forever and he gave it to one of the men that worked for him in the end that spiffed it up again. The car took only premium gas too, good thing that was before gas became out this world expensive but was not good during that Gas Shortage of the 70's.

My worst memory of the car is it is the one where we were in a hotel in Perry GA when MLK was murdered. My Dad knew to flee the area. That is the car my Sis and I were told to lay on the floor as people threw rocks, bottles extra at us as we made our way to the highway during the riots. I'll never forget it. Dad drove through the night and not stopping much until we reached Southern Florida where the police had more control over the streets. I was so young but remember the fear and the terror in my folks voices as they yelled for us to keep down.
Fear in your parent's voices, is so scary for a kid.

We stay around town, on the 4th most people go to the mountains. Kinda nice , not having to battle traffic wherever you go!
