The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
"So, Jennifer", you ask, "how was your steak?"

Well, the truth is, I only made that one single cut (to make sure it wasn't still mooing) before the phone rang.

"How quickly can you get to Consol?" asks Son #2, referring to a not too distant street.
"I can be there immediately. Is someone hurt?"
"Yeah, Gen wiped out."

Boy did she ever! They had been out long-boarding, and she took a nasty spill. The whole left side of her body; thigh, ankle, knee, elbow, shoulder and FACE! all scraped and bloody.

She didn't want to go home, so we brought her here, and pulled out the first aid kit. I got the blood cleaned up, the worst wounds temporarily dressed and gave her some Advil.
We put ice on her face (eye area predominately) and got her settled for a few minutes.

Hubby and I went to Shopper's DrugMart and got her 2 boxes of large gauze pads, non-stick tape, a brand new Polysporin, saline wound spray, ice pack, and citrus scented Epsom salts to take home.

When we got back, I had her go take a bath in the Epsom salts and then helped her dress her wounds.

She has a great big shiner already, and is going to hurt like the dickens tomorrow, but thank you Lord, just a lot of skin left on the pavement, but no broken bones.

The steak, two hours later, was meh!

I'm sorry she got hurt but I'm glad he called you since you knew exactly what to do. I never would have thought of Epsom salt.

They were on an end-cap at the drug store and caught my attention, and I remembered my Nan and my mom always throwing Epsom salts into the tub after we'd had some kind of muscular strain or injury.

I never knew why they worked, just that they did.

According to the interwebz:
Epsom salts (apparently used as singular or plural, within the same article) are made from mineral magnesium sulfate—which is a sedative for the nervous system.
When magnesium sulfate is absorbed through the skin, such as in a bath, it draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, and is a natural emollient, exfoliator.

Probably not going to do much for her shiner and deep scrape around her eye. For that, we'll stick with ice and Polysporin.

My first countdown for things to do for our next trip will begin within next few weeks. That's when my dh will be able to know when next years calendar will be coming out at work so he can block off our vacation time and the following school year dates will be out. Hoping to hit the road Saturday July 30th, 2016.

Not all pigs are "mean", stubborn yes. Amazingly they can be easily trained just like dogs if you have the time and patience. Being in 4-H we had to spend a certain amount of time every day of fair week in the barn. There were times we'd sit in lawn chairs in our pen and they'd lay at our feet like a puppy. :joyfull:

As a kid, I always wanted to be in 4=H, but I grew up in the suburbs and we didn't have any farms. :( I also wanted to be a Camp Fire Girl, but that organization wasn't in my area either. All we had was Girl Scouts, but for whatever reason, I had no interest. o_O As a consolation prize, my mother had me take piano lessons. (Oh, that was a good skill to have and all, but tell that to a 7-year-old kid . . . :p)

So I was at the Hilton in Rockwall, Texas Tuesday and Wednesday night for our work retreat. The hotel sits right on the lake, which was great. The property was beautiful. Training during the day and drinking/eating during the night. Tuesday night we had a suite at a AA baseball game and Wednesday night we rented a double-decker party boat and floated on the lake late into the night. Everyone was exhausted at work today.:hungover:

Um . . . any work get done? :hilarious:

Wow!!! What an insanely awesome day!!!!! :joyfull:
Just got back from dinner with the family at our favorite Mexican restaurant, to top it all off...! :)
The office event was a total hoot! Even though we only got to finish 14 holes of mini-golf before we got soakin' wet and rained out, it was sooo worth it...! :)
Remember, the theme was Caddyshack...

It took 2 shots to get everyone in...
