I saw this on Facebook this morning. It's to bad that most of us can no longer think in this manner. It would save a lot of problems.

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered… not yelled.
Meanness don’t jes’ happen overnight.
Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.
You cannot unsay a cruel word.
Every path has a few puddles.
When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
The best sermons are lived, not preached.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.
Don’t judge folks by their relatives.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life… Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.
Don‘t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a Rain dance.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
Always drink upstream from the herd.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.
If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around..
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.
Most times, it just gets down to common sense.
That is advice I need quite often.

Our morning in Aruba started out great, mid 80s and sunshine and room service arrived on time. We had just sat down to eat breakfast when "Medical crew to Deck 11, medical crew to deck 11." went out over the P.A. I assured my daughter that perhaps someone had fallen because it had been foggy and the floor may have been slick. :( (I found it amazing the amount of people that didn't pay attention to "floor may be slippery when wet". )

A short time later we went to the elevators to leave for our day. The ship's captain and a few crew were forming a blockade around the nearby stairwell and telling everyone to clear the area. Not more than a minute later they brought down a lady strapped to a backboard with oxygen and an IV. Another passenger had mentioned she had a heart attack. Unfortunately the only way they could get her to the medical area on deck zero was to carry her down the stairs, eleven floors.

Our shore excursion was a motorcoach tour of the island (Aruba is only 20 miles long, 6 miles wide) and a swim. It was a fun time but a three hour bus ride that had us thinking much of the island looks the same. Our first stop was Casibari Rock Formations where you could climb these giant boulders and see most of the island. Being 9 a.m. and 90* already, we passed. :D The next stop was the Aruba Natural Bridge....or former bridge. It collapsed in 2005 but we could walk up to the barrier and see where it had been.

View attachment 90029 Our next stop was the California Lighthouse. o_O California? In 1891 the steamship California didn't know Aruba was there and ran aground. As our driver told us, the people of his country like to take their time with everything and the lighthouse was built in....1916 and took them three years to build it. :cyclops: Near the base of the lighthouse were local vendors selling fresh cut coconut drinks and assorted trinkets and snacks.

Our final stop was Eagle Beach, a public beach not far from the cruise port. It was a pretty place with trees for shade except.....during Holy Week in Aruba, families come out in droves and pitch tents and minicampers on the beach. It was very crowded with natives. We still had a good time and everyone was nice. I must admit though with so many people I was ready to head back to the ship. :)
Fresh cut coconut drinks sound so yummy.

Returning to the ship we had to walk through another merchant building. This one reminded me of your local fleamarket selling very overpriced stuff. :greedy: Our total spending was $5. My daughter bought a turtle-shaped magnet that was filled with gold and treasures. ;) I forgot to mention one more thing about the tour. One of the nifty things I learned is about their Divi Divi Tree. They always grow pointing to the southwest due to the winds that are constantly blowing across them. So pretty. :cat:

On the way to our rooms we rode in the glass elevators that face the atrium lobby. We all got on and as the door was closing a hand stopped it. The smoking guy got on and didn't look at any of us but faced the door. Weirdo! After a long day on the road we took a NAP until Thrill Theater and dinner time. It's amazing how sunshine and the gentle motion of the ship can put one to sleep in mere minutes. We got up and noticed we had left port so we decided to take the outer deck for a walk. (Aruba is so close to Venezula we could see it off in the distance.) Surprisingly the T.T. was empty this go around. I figured it was because the show was Planet Earth, an educational offering that may not interest many younger cruisers. We had the theater to ourselves.

Dinner was repeats from past meals but it was soooo yummy! :hungry: We had tempura shrimp, steak with garlic and onions, baked potato, and I had Brownie cake while my daughter got fresh baked chocolate chip cookies again. At each meal they also had a small bread basket with a eight pieces of different varities. (I have a weakness for good bread. ) This evening they had sunflower honey wheat rolls that were delicious! The picture below is basically what our steaks looked like.

Now we had been waiting all cruise for a poolside movie to watch (Captain America:The Winter Soldier played while we were dining) and finally, finally, finally they were showing something we really wanted to see! Guess who? :geek:

View attachment 90048

I was so happy to see this on the morning schedule! We had seen it in the theater and really enjoyed it but watching it on the outside jumbotron while sailing in the middle of the ocean made it even more awesome. :D At the nightly movies they arrange the deck chairs in a semi circle so people can relax (or fall asleep) while watching the movie. They also have unlimited free popcorn and if you would like you can use your room key to get a blanket at the pool cabana then return it afterwards. We got to the movie with ten minutes to spare and every deck chair had been taken. Others had spread their blankets on the deck like they were at a picnic. :banghead:

Where to sit, where to sit! Being resourceful (and because we really really wanted to see the movie) my friend went to the dining area and dragged four chairs out with her. We then got our free popcorn and blankets. A cool breeze had picked up and put a chill in the air, yes it was still 80* but we had been baking in the sun and anything under 85* was cold! :joyfull: Twenty minutes into the movie one friend decided she would be the hot chocolate gopher, the machine was just a short walk away. I had talked to a fellow guest afterwards and he said he and his wife had been to every movie so far and GOTG had drawn triple the amount of viewers compared to the other movies.

GOTG ended just before midnight so we called it an evening. Not having to get up early (our second sea day) made us all happy and we decided when the last person of our group woke up, we would get motivated to start the day. I'm pretty sure I dreamed of StarLord :inlove: that night.

To BE CONTINUED with Sorry, bad boys and "no, please go without me"
Bad boys? I'm intrigued.

Our second sea day started off rocking...literally. In the very early hours of the morning some strong winds had kicked up and were blowing across the ship causing it every so often rock to one side. I hadn't noticed it while sleeping but as we started our day the captain had made a safety reminder announcement to hold onto railings when needed, etc. :cyclops: Extra precaution is always best.

We had slept in until 10 a.m. and chose the Blush Brunch for dining again. :hungry: Our table had a window view and we could see the water was really choppy. This day we decided to try to do things we hadn't so far. (There was so much we couldn't get to it all....and didn't. :( ) We had an hour wait until we could get into the Thrill Theater, which was near the Library Bar, so we wasted time playing Sorry. I must say this time would be the only negative experience we had on our trip, and it wasn't the fault of the cruise line. :cautious:

In our times of visiting the game room we had sat by a table of oriental gentlemen playing cards. They were always very cordial to us although none of them spoke English. It was always a smile, nod and wave to say "Hey, how you doin' today?" :geek: Shortly into our game three teenage boys had come in and sat at a checkers table and were rather obnoxious. (My first thought was Where are your parents?!? :devilish: ) Then they started to talk loud in some sort of Asian language. At first we tried to ignore it but one got louder and the other boys would laugh. Finally one gentleman turned and said something to the boys. It was then I realized the boys weren't speaking Asian and were mocking the men. Having their bluff called the boys made a hasty retreat but not before playing 52 Pick Up with all the checkers. If I was their mom the only sight they'd be seeing was their room for the remainder of the cruise!

While playing our game the strong motion of the ship was giving me a queasy headache so I made me daughter trade places with me. It was like I had been on a slow rocking chair I couldn't get out of. :depressed: Of course that didn't bother her at all. We saw Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs at the T.T. and realized we could make it to the next performance of Hasbro:The Game Show. :)

Finding our seats in the balcony again (that's all that was left :grumpy: ) we settled in just as the stage hands were getting the crowd pumped up. The format and commercial was the same but the games played were different. Cruise Director Matt chose eight contestants using Pictionary. Eight crew members had made videos drawing their clue and the participants had to decipher what it was to get in.

View attachment 90106 The first game they played was Sorry Sliders. (It reminded me of curling without the ice.) The two teams each had a big game piece on wheels and the closer to the center, the higher the score. The adults were using this strategy and the kids were just trying to knock to the others out of the ring. The game was interesting due to the fact that the ship rocking to one side, all the pieces rolled to the left and off the board. o_O

Matt used Trivial Pursuit to pick the next eight contestants. He really threw us for a loop on the final four questions though! Let's see if you get the answer....and no googling! (And talking about Google, if you are found to be using it during the trivia contests you are banned from playing for the day. :jawdrop: ) Okay, Matt's question was.....what holiday did England ban in 1644?

It was Christmas!

Possibly every holiday was named and was wrong until a little girl (maybe 6 or 7) said the correct answer and got to play. Matt's next few questions stumped us because they all had the same answer as the spoiler. :banghead: He divided the eight winners into two groups, four adults, four kids.

View attachment 90115 The next game was based on Operation. It was like skeeball and the two teams each had 90 seconds (taking turns) to score as many points as possible. The adults were going for speed and not accuracy, the kids had a slow steady rhythm and were sinking 500 after 500. The audience were cheering for those kids and they won!

View attachment 90117 When it came to the Monopoly ATM, Matt had each contestant strike a model pose before they put their card in. The "spoiler" girl struck a pose then crossed the stage like a catwalk. :cat: She also had picked the cell phone card. Guess who was the winner? Ring, ring ring! So now you know to be the ultimate winner of Hasbro:The Game Show, pick the cell phone card! :hilarious:
So those weren't good bad boys.

Ok, here is a nature question for you. A bird has built its nest in the area right near where our front door opens. We use this as our primary door for entering the house, so this could pose a problem. I didn't notice it yesterday so I doubt there are eggs in it yet. Should I knock it down or let it stay and see what happens?
I would let it stay. Nests are special they worked really hard.

Well some birds build multiple nests and then pick the one that they think is ideal. Not an ideal location. As long as there aren't any eggs in it, you should be fine knocking it down. While it is under construction is usually legal (unless it is an eagle nest, which this one is probably not). If there are eggs in it DO NOT KNOCK IT DOWN! You'll have violated Federal Law. Also check your state laws.

http://www.army.mil/article/37815/take-care-with-birds-nests/

Just watch it for a few days and see if there are birds coming and going and if so, which they are. A nest under construction by anything other than a bald eagle shouldn't be an issue
This is sound advice.

I'm actually fairly selective on the dogs I like too. I have mini-schnauzers (and have always had them). I like their size and that they don't shed. I am a little allergic to dogs that shed, and cats for that matter so that is probably why I'm not a big cat fan.
I like all dogs but as long as they aren't mine and they will go away at some point. Bubba for me is special, I really think he was meant for me. Growing up, we always had dogs and I would walk all of them but if they wanted to have my attention outside of a walk, I got annoyed. I'm a cat person, I like that they don't want to be bothered.

After the Hasbro show the plan was to go swimming before dinner. I was feeling out of sorts and I had that feeling if I didn't lay down I was going to fall down. :( My friends took my daughter to the pool so I could get a NAP. They'd come back in time for everyone to get dressed for the Cruise Elegant dinner.

I never did sleep but the more I laid there the worse I felt. The rocking of the ship was becoming less intermittent but was still bothering me. :depressed: When everyone returned I began feeling more ill and had to tell them to please go without me. (I know I'm not with it if I pass on a free steak! ;) )

My friends took my daughter to dinner and entertained her for most of the evening by exploring the ship. (The night's movies were Divergent and Interstellar so I knew those were a no go.) I took ibuprofen and wished for my head not to explode. :in pain: Eventually I slept for an hour then ordered room service to stop my stomach from growling--side salad, BLT and chips. Everyday on the ship's tv one family movie and one action movie plays continously for 24 hours (before moving on to different featured movies) so I got to watch Alvin & The Chipmunks:Chipwrecked. :cat: I also started packing a suitcase since our time left on the ship was dwindling.

Eventually the girls came back and dropped my daughter off. She had shrimp cocktail, steak, mashed potatoes and chocolate ice cream for her dessert. I guess the wait staff put on another dancing show to I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas too. She also told the head waiter I wasn't feeling well and he made me a flower. (That made me feel better than a chicken. :hilarious: )

View attachment 90134 I still wasn't quite up to par but hoped a good night's sleep would help cure me. Especially since we had to be up early for the Dr. Seuss character breakfast the next day. :geek:

TO BE CONTINUED with green eggs and ham, "Look mom, I'm on tv!" and packing procrastination.
I'm hoping green eggs and ham won't be served?

Our Dr. Seuss breakfast entrees.

View attachment 90192 View attachment 90193

The "dessert" portion of the meal was called Yogurt Parfait Schlopp. There were two varities: strawberry and a kiwi/melon blend but after we had eaten all our other meal we couldn't even think about adding the parfait to our belly. :joyfull:

View attachment 90194 View attachment 90195

The other nifty item included in the meal was a free autograph brochure and the character helpers stamped them when they visited you. :) All the wait staff were wearing Thing 99 shirts too and they played music from the many Dr. Seuss productions over the years. We left with smiles on our faces and went to enjoy our last day at sea.
Those green eggs and ham were creative! That looked like an awesome meal.
