Perhaps Gabe has Sodium Vapor lighting in her house and is using a LED flash on her camera.

Wow! You thought that massive restaurant was my house? Wooba! Our family would love a room like that with all those TV's and elegant bar. Cool!

Yeah that is what we had in the Jumbo building however similar but smaller than the moderates.

As much as I liked many of AKL plus's I'm not overly impressed with their very small square footage in the main resort, similar to the moderates nor the tiny bathroom space. To me the main building resort rooms were not worthy of the deluxe price tag.
Well... I dunno, I found a room of the moderates to be slightly smaller than the AKL Kidani "Studio".
And it included the small kitchen with a sink.

Only difference is.. in the deluxes.. you have balcony view.
In the moderates, your window always looks into the public walkway.
The AC units in the deluxes are on top, in the moderates they are right below the window or by the door ( POR vs Coronado Springs)
Also the bathroom is always first, right next to the door like many hotels, in the moderates.. the bathroom is always by the end of the room.

I think you need to compare a resort room to a resort room and a DVC to a DVC room as they are not equivalent.
AKL sq ft. 344, where POR is 314. Considering the mini hallway entrance to AKL resort rooms with closet to the side it make up for the extra non usable square footage. Not worthy of the price differential from a moderate to me. The only bonus is the balcony at AKL, again not something I spent more than 20 minutes on tops a day. Now at a MK view at the Contemporary I might find a balcony more advantageous. Me watching others in the pool not so much.

Waking from our nap and feeling refreshed and no pain (sometimes all it takes is laying flat for awhile), we went in search of sustenance. Guy's Burgers and ice cream? :D You bet. Being in the sun and swimming so much this day already, we sought inside activities to do. (Plus I really did get too much sun. :in pain:)

Our friends visited the casino while we visited the Fun Shops. Surprisingly the merchandise wasn't too outrageously priced and everyday they have a special running. This day was Carnival Cruise Caribbean t-shirts 3/$25. (Of course I bought three. :geek: ) One of the Fun Shops is called Cherry On Top. It was a fun browsing store but we didn't buy anything because I could get the same thing at my local grocery store for half the price. :greedy:

Hero_CherryonTop-lg.jpeg

For dinner this night we actually ordered chicken. (and not poodle :joyfull: ) Shrimp cocktail, herb roasted chicken breast with peas/carrots medley, baked potato and pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream. :hungry: Shortly before ordering our dessert we heard an announcement "Servers prepare for the show." What show?

The song "Happy" by Pharrell Williams started playing and the staff stopped whatever it was they were doing and did the dance routine to that song. :geek: Our head waiter (who was in his 50's) and the "cute waiter" (who was in his 20's) were by our table and decided to see who could outdo the other. That was a sight to see. The older waiter won, he had style. :cat: Leaving the restaurant I told him so. He said "In Peru my mother send me to dance lessons as a boy." Well they paid off! :inlove:

We just weren't having any luck with the poolside movies so far :banghead: as tonight were two none of us wanted to see, Hunger Games Mockingjay and Transformers Age Of Extinction. We walked around looking at some of the art that was being put up for their gallery auction and found ourselves back at The Library Bar again. Someone had signed Sorry out for the evening (with a room key you can take them with you for the night) so my daughter picked out Candyland to play. :hilarious: We had become overtired and it was a hilarious time. (Why did I have to keep going back to the beginning! It was a conspiracy for not buying anything in Cherry On Top I'm tellin' ya'! ;) ) The next morning we could sleep in some as we weren't to reach Curacao until noon. (Pronounced Cure-a-sow even though my daughter insists in calling it Cure-a-cow.)

TO BE CONTINUED (someday I'll be caught up!) with free liquor, "Five women for every man" and color, color everywhere.

well, dunno you;but renting points didnt cost me more than a moderate (200 USD per day)
So I found the change a lot.

As for the contemporary, those would be 600+ per day.

Didn't you say you have DirecTV? If you do it should be channel 374.

Hmm . . . I just looked on the guide and indeed, there is a BYU on 374. I'll have to check that out later on today. (Usually, once I get past the news and weather channels up around 362 or so, I don't go higher because nothing beyond that ever looked interesting. And I don't subscribe to the premium channels, so there's not been much incentive for me to go beyond 362.) Is BYU a new station?

Last year I got a shirt in Germany so I got a size bigger then I normally wear so I found the secret.

I can't remember where I read it, but at some point over the past year, one of the forum members said that they were actually cutting the shirts a little larger. This goes against everything that you and @ajrwdwgirl have experienced in terms of shrinkage. Apparently, people were returning the shirts because, for example, a Large didn't seem to fit like a full Large, so they started cutting the Larges a bit more toward the XL size, to cut back on the returns. But, in theory, they did this with all the sizes--cut them more generously. All I know is that for what they charge for shirts in WDW, they should be making them a higher quality, so that all these shrinkage issues would not happen.

I wrap potatoes too. And I am weary of ''it is going to kill you drama" but some say foil wrapped potatoes are going to kill ya. :cyclops:

http://www.livestrong.com/article/513468-hazards-of-baking-a-potato-in-foil/

Wow! After reading that, it would appear that the culprit in the poisoning was that the restaurant let the spuds sit there in foil for 48 hours at room temperature. That was idiotic. I'm sure that if you use foil at home and eat the potatoes within a reasonable timeframe, there's no issue.

@MOXOMUMD , that was a funny story about the bridge! I'm not normally afraid of heights, but being so close to the edge of that high bridge would have freaked me out, too!!

Oddly enough, the part about you tripping and falling over the bathroom step in your cabin, is probably something we can all relate to at some point or another. I swear I turn into a human disaster zone every time I travel someplace. (I always come home with bruises.) I've walked into walls, tripped over (anything), dropped a suitcase on my foot, banged up my knees walking around furniture in the hotel room, slipped on the bathroom floor . . . think I've done it all through the years! :p Really, once I'm out of my own element here at home, I'm totally "lost in space" when I travel! I'm a hazard to myself!!

I hope your back has healed, and the injury was minor.

I think Wendy's went bankrupt in my country in a lot of places. :(
for "Quality" fast food burgers.. theres always Carl's.

In other news, if I ever go to McDonalds, its only for the Nuggets. Which I crave right now lol.

That's interesting. Most (if not all) of those fast-food places are franchises. The Wendy's in my area is really good. Sounds like the Wendy's weren't run as well down in Mexico. That's too bad. Maybe they weren't using a high enough quality of meat, perhaps?

what with these shirts, cups..etc.. that has the "stay away from the doors" in spanish?
I have no idea why they seem popular.

Speaking for myself only, I'll try to answer that question. I've been going to WDW since my first trip with my mother in 1985. (Since then, trips to WDW have been off and on over the years, but certainly not every year).

Anyway, I can't recall when they started to include the Spanish, in addition to the English, recording about the monorail doors. But, I never grew up around any language other than English, so it was somewhat of a novelty to me, when I heard the Spanish for the first time. If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe that announcements in Spanish were made anywhere else in the parks years ago, until some point in time well after the monorail announcement. (My recollection of that fact might be wrong, but I just don't remember.)

Hence, I think that's why it's a memorable part of Disney history, that a lot of (English speaking) people will always remember about the Spanish version of the monorail doors announcement. It's iconic to many, and that's why the t-shirts, mugs, etc. are popular items. :)

in other news.. I just read on a mexican newspaper.. that there was a crash on the WDW's exotic car racing (Richard Petty's Driving Experience?)

*edit*

its on cnn now

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/04/12/us/florida-disney-driving-experience-death/index.html

Ugh. Awful.

Side note: The Richard Petty Experience, either the drive-along or ride-along versions, are in stockcar, NASCAR-style vehicles. Last time I heard, the exotic cars are handled by a different company, but also share the WDW track.)
