Back when I worked in the hotel industry, the company I worked for opened a hotel in Aruba. The chef (from the States) really wanted to make good meals for the staff, not just "eh" cafeteria food. So he would come up with all these great creations (while keeping within the budget), and the staff wouldn't eat very much. He couldn't figure out what was wrong, until somebody there finally told him that they all missed their favorite meal, goat stew! After that, he'd make goat stew at least 4 days a week for them, and they loved it! :p :D

There are different ten-minute movie shorts (two at a time) showing at a range of times through the days of the cruise. This night we got to see Happy Feet and Bamboo Express. (B.E. is a rollercoaster ride through the Himalayans. A lot of the scenes reminded me of the Jungle Cruise but the elephants did spray you in the Thrill Theater. :p) Other movies playing were Spongebob, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Speed Racer The Movie, and Extreme Log Ride. (E.L.R. was very extreme. Basically you are a log that has been cut at the top of a mountain and you go down ramps, rivers and sail through the air to a platform to be shipped. This is the only movie that made me ill. :hungover: )

My favorite movie was Planet Earth:Shallow Seas by the BBC. It was a movie for the "older" cruisers (not sure what that says about me :hilarious: ) who can't or didn't want to be tossed around in their seat. The whales still got you wet though and "the sea breeze blowing through your hair" was nice when you're sweaty. :joyfull: One scene with an electric fireclam gives a shocky jolt to your back and I thought....holy carp! CLEAR....ZAPPP!

Our assigned restaurant was the Sapphire. (The picture below isn't mine but it is the same view we had from our seats.) Our head waiter was from Peru, the main waiter was from Bosnia and the drink waiter was from Indonesia. I did take food pics of our meals but I must admit my daughter and I had steak more than once. :oops: Sooooo good! She was excited she didn't have to order off the kid's menu every night. This evening the two of us had caesar salads for apps, steak with roasted garlic, baked potato (for me), herbed fries (for her), and fresh apple pie ala mode for dessert.

After dinner we explored the ship some. Grown-Ups 2 and Ride Along were playing on the poolside Jumbotron (not appropriate for a 9 yr-old, IMO) so we retired to our room while our friends hit up the casino. My daughter was very happy the two kids channels on board were Cartoon Network and Boomerang. :)

The 4-D Thrill Theater sounds like a hoot! No wonder the two of you had so much fun! I also like the photo of the restaurant--very colorful. I'll bet your daughter felt very grown up ordering from the adult's menu, too! ;) :)

That's awesome. I had a big cutout of Eddie and when my daughter was born I had to put it up. Not because she was scared of it but she wanted to play with him! :D Every time she's seen them in concert she cheers LOUD when Eddie comes out.

Never to a NY deli however we do have great ones sprinkled near and in Chicago. The Original Chicago Deli opened more than 50 years ago and is now operated by the owners son who grew up working in the Deli. I can remember going to the Deli as a small kid and just took my DD earlier this winter.

Manny's has been on just about every Food Show.

my DD loves their Matzo ball soup and it is featured by Zagat as one of the 8 best anywhere.

Four generations of this family have been part of this place and it is a clean yummy hole in the wall type place.

WOW!!! That's what I'm talking about--a REAL deli, (although yours is in Chicago, versus N.Y.). I just love that old black and white photo. Those are the best places with the menu up on the boards, and the men in front who do all the prep work right in front of the customers. That old stainless system is cool too! :D

Change out the people and the place is the same, those boards are still there, the only thing they seem to do is replace the chair vinyl and maybe put in a new facet in the bathroom. They ring you up a cash register receipt when you exit with your food and pay for it after you eat on the way out the door at the money cash register. The register sits on a homemade wooden box system with a cut out for glass window with gum, mints etc showcased.
Even the top of the box system is wood.

Oh my goodness! That sandwich looks so delicious, I had some yummy Thai food for dinner but I wish I would have had this!

Woof.
Finally home and chillin'.
Worked straight through lunch to meet a deadline on 7 plans we're doin' for a new subdivision.
I designed, and CAD'd 'em up, in 7 days. 4 1-story plans, and 3 2-story plans, ranging between 1,700 and 3,600 sq. ft. The good news is, the partner met with the clients this afternoon, and all the plans are goin' straight to construction documents with only minor revisions...!!! :joyfull: :)

*sips some beer...* ;)

I hear "I'm alright.....no, no, no, mommy I broke my glasses!" This was 7:40 in the evening. Her optometrist is in Wal-Mart, a 15 minute drive from home, they close at 8. :jawdrop: I called and explained what happened and they stayed opened for us. Thank heavens!!!! There was one pair of frames to fit her lenses. I thought we'd be sightseeing but she wouldn't be seeing the sights. :joyfull:

That was awful but also very lucky that the glasses got fixed that night. You were on the ball!
