I hate cilantro!

I feel like i have to put this out there for some reason. I can't stand the taste of Cilantro. Its terrible. One little fleck of that terrible little herb can completely ruin an otherwise tasty dish. It tastes to me like taking a bite off a bar of Irish Spring soap. I know im not alone, who else can't stand cilantro?

The soap taste that some people perceive is actually the result of a genetic mutation.

So you definitely aren't alone, but I personally love cilantro.

You know me, I'd love to jump in to an I hate Cilantro discussion with both barrels a blazin', but I do not taste Cilantro, I guess, or it hasn't been overwhelming enough for me to single it out. I do have a daughter that hates it, if that helps.

It's interesting, because to people with "normal-cilantro-genes" (like me), cilantro tastes NOTHING like soap.

I use to hate it but in the last few years I've started to appreciate it. Too much can still ruin a dish.

My husband doesn't have the soap gene, but he still hates it. He thinks it tastes like sweaty gym socks. He's written a submission to ihatecilantro.com before.

Cilantro is delicious, especially when it's fresh. Yummy. I've never met anyone who doesn't like cilantro, but, then again, I live in California.

I am in the middle. I've had too much in a dish once that has made me a little wary so I can see why some people don't like it. But in small amounts it is okay, I do appreciate it in a fresh salsa.

In England we call it Coriander! Love the stuff! Call it coriander and it will taste lovely!

We call the seeds coriander and the leaves cilantro. They really taste totally different.

I love both the cilantro/coriander leaves and fruit/seeds. Love the leaves in my salsa and guacamole and the fruit/seeds as an ingredient in beer.
Also, for some reason, the taste of the fresh leaves has always reminded me of watermelon flavored Jolly Ranchers...?!
