Contactless Payment at Walt Disney World

Hi everyone,

I have been following the website for a long time and it has really helped with my trips to WDW - thanks!

I have a question that I cannot find an answer to anywhere:
Are contactless payment credit cards (issued in the UK) accepted in the parks at Walt Disney World?
Many thanks!

Most places in the US only have swipe card readers. I don't think the new Mickey Head readers accept tap payments other than the MagicBands. They will still accept it via swipe, but not via tap. If you are staying on property they can link your MagicBand to your credit card, so it's kinda sorta the same.

Thanks - we are only staying on-site for a couple of nights so won't be able to charge to MagicBand after then. I was thinking it might be easier to use Contactless but I guess it's no quicker than swiping the card.

Our contactless, much like chip and pin doesn't work in the states anyway. Different systems

A lot of places are starting to accept the contact and the touch cards. In October of next year ('15) any business who is still using mag stripe or swipe and sign will become liable for any fraudulent charges/stolen credit card usage that occurs at their business but if they upgrade to chip or touch cards they avoid the liability so they have a great deal of incentive to move to the next generation credit cards. I would be stunned if Disney hasn't already made great strides toward getting this done since I expect your looking at tens of millions in liability if they don't. I'm in the process of moving the transit agency I work for to new cards (requires new CC readers, heavily modifying the fronts of our machines, and new software) over the next year and also working with some of my old software clients to do the upgrade. The system we're putting in at the agency is compatible with EU and most Asian contact and touch cards.
