Strange request here. Do you know someone who works in Disney's park costume department?

I am in the process of building my daughter a Tower of Terror bellhop costume for Halloween and I am having a really hard time finding a match for the gold trim used on the uniform.

I know this is a long shot for many reasons, but I am hoping someone reading this might know a person who works on Disney costumes for cast members that may be able to help.

Holding out hope that the wdwmagic community comes through!

Why not just find something "close enough" than worry about matching exactly?

A Halloween costume is supposed to suggest not necessarily imitate.

She and I are going together as bellhops, and I have a ToT costume that was used at the parks, so I'd like it to be as close as possible.

Here's the trim. I've been posting it all over, including reddit's disney and sewing channels, as well as emailing a ton of fabric companies. I've also tried to find it at JoAnn's, Michael's AC Moore and have had no luck. I'll be heading to a big fabric store in Boston today at lunch with the sample, but I figured if I could find someone who works in Costuming they might be able to help.

The trim I need is in both 1/4" and 1/2" sizes. It's closest match I could find is something called braided/knitted flat trim, but before I order rolls of the stuff I figured I'd ask if anyone knew exactly.

I'd think the company would be in serious trouble, and probably be shut down if they were dealing in stolen goods. They've been operating for about 20 years so I think they're on the level.

As far as getting into the event yes, I'm sure we'll be allowed in.

But thanks for casting that debbie downer shadow!

Yes
MouseSurplus? I didn't think that Disney ever sold off their old costumes - I always thought they were destroyed..

Not that I don't see cast member costumes on eBay all the time and not that I don't have a partial Haunted Mansion costume but I'd never, ever think of wearing it to the parks. Though I was REALLY tempted to for MNSSHP but I don't want to get put in Disney Jail. The tags are still bar coded & say Magic Kingdom on it. :D

It was themeparkconnection

I will only be wearing the shirt from the costume that I got, as wearing those wool pants in early September weather would probably induce heat stroke. Same with my daughter - short sleeve shirt and shorts to match the original outfit.

I had to make my own hat too, so I'm not at all concerned about being told I can't wear the costume.

The only rules I've read regarding Disney costumes being worn during MNSSHP are:

• Those dressed in Disney costumes may not pose for photos or sign character autographs.

If they know you are wearing an actual disney park costume you will not be allowed in.

I wouldn't wear an actual "stolen" Disney company costume piece to ANY place Disney related. TBH, your best off making your own replication instead of putting yourself at risk. Remember, Stolen property IS stolen property, regardless if purchased from EBay.

I'm modeling my daughter's off of what this gal did - she and I have been trading emails on it.

I'm just going to cross my fingers on it, and have a plan B in case we get stopped.

It'd be better to make your own like this girl did....

The other thing that will not have guest notice...Is that your in the dark....I'm sure I woudn't pay attention to authenticity...
