Cirque du Soleil is offering a new premium 'La Nouba' experience at Downtown Disney

Cirque Du Soleil has been offering this type of package for some of its Las Vegas shows and some of it's traveling shows for quite some time. I have been told that they are worth the money. Dont know from experience as I don't have the money for it. The regular tickets are pricey enough.

You bring the Bread. . . We'll bring the Circus.

I wouldn't do it but to me this is one of the less offensive cash grabs. Because you're right, other Cirque shows do it, and lots of non-Cirque productions offer premium packages like this. For someone who's really into the show, going backstage, meeting a cast member, that might be a big deal worth the dough. And if the bag of merch is unique, who knows, it may wind up being kind of a wash for what you get?

That better be one big-@$$ bucket of popcorn though.

Because of course they are.

@WDW1974 told us this stuff was coming. But the sheer volume and brazenness of these cash grabs still boggles the mind.
I totally agree that these types of things are cash grabs and the volume of which they are flowing in is stunning, but if you don't like them you don't have to do them and they really won't impact your experience in the park either.

And really, once they've started rolling one out and they sell out immediately, from a business point of view, it just makes sense to try and do it again, as you know it will likely sell. Not saying I defend it, but there's a bit of logic behind it.

I have yet to have any of this stuff impact my visits to the park. I just hope that continues to be the case.

I really think people are over using the term "Cash Grab". You are paying extra for extra perks - How is that a "Cash Grab"? It is taking nothing away from the enjoyment of the show for other guests either.

A "Cash Grab" is when you are paying for an inferior product like crappy sequel movies or now being made to pay for what used to be free or having to pay more the the same experience.

I definitely see the logic. I don't object to upcharges in principle. But the degree to which Disney relying on them to pad the bottom line is disconcerting. And some of them do impact your experience. Viewing areas for parades and fireworks that were free to all are now being reserved for those willing to fork out extra. Park hours are cut for hard ticket events.

As these are accepted and become more common, Disney is going to keep taking things that were included in the price of admission and selling them as separate experiences.

I shelled out for the Feel the Force Premium Package and that thing was a cash grab and a half. I have heard similar feedback about a number of these offerings. Even sites that never complain about Disney have given mixed to poor reviews to the After Hours at Epcot and Harambe Nights experiences.

Well when you look at the price of a front an center ticket, $137 plus tax.
It isn't too pricey of an "add on" about $105... I wouldn't pay for it but I wouldn't say it is as bad as the other "premium packages."

Quite honestly, Disney is late to the game when it comes to up-charged, premium experiences.

I can not think of the last concert, play or show I have attended that did not have some kind of up-charged VIP option.

Not to mention, one of the newest offerings where guests can now buy front of line access to a handful of rides will certainly affect those of us JUST paying $94/99 per day.

I will say this. If the premium packages were coming in addition to park expansion like was seen in the 1990s, it wouldn't leave a bad taste in my mouth. And while I agree upcharges are not individually offensive, it is absurd how many of these they have created this year. It seems like they announce two of these a week! Insane! How long until they offer the Premium Toilet Experience for $59/day with 4-ply Charmin?

" Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that. [pause] I'm fired, aren't I?" - The Simpsons episode 4F12
Dumb people don't use buzzwords. Dumb people use drugs. Drugs make dumb people think $250 is reasonable to see the mistreatment of elephants that occurs backstage at a French Canadian circus.
