Whispering canyon cafe questions?

My family has and ADR in July and I have a couple questions

1. If seen on a couple menu sites that they have a "all u care to eat family platter" for $29.99. Is that per person or is it actually a "family" platter that a family of 4 can get?

2. Can adults order the kids all u care to eat platters off the
kids menu? Or is this one
thing they actually make you be a kid to order it? I've seen on the forums before that adults can order off kids menus but didn't know if they would allow that at whispering canyon cafe.

3. Anybody know what buffet cost at trails end restaurant? Trying to decide if should eat there instead of WCC.

Thanks for any info. My family will be paying OOP so trying to plan ahead.

Trails End is a MUCH better value than WCC and has an extensive dinner buffet with salads, a carving station and delicious BBQ options. Great dessert bar. Friendly and attentive servers. You don't get the "shtick" of WCC, and the setting is a little more rustic, but we'd choose Trails End over WCC any day.

If you go to the WCC and get the All you care to eat platter, don't choose the citrus crusted fish as one of your meats- it was bland and unappetizing.:depressed: The best part of that meal for us was the potatoes and the ribs, and their strawberry-peach cobbler (it was summer) was divine!

We are WCC junkies. We generally hit it up for at least one breakfast and one dinner each trip. The overindulgence on meat I enjoy is only matched by the mason jars of Coke. It is my happy place!

  • All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Breakfast Platter – Scrambled eggs, western home fries, bacon and sausage, buttermilkbiscuits, sausage gravy and waffles.
Dinner: Choice of Three: Kansas City-style Smoked Pork Ribs, Herb-baked Chicken, Hand-carved Oak-roasted Beef Strip Loin, Citrus-crusted Market Fish, Western-style Sausage Sides fro Sharing: Seasonal Farm Fresh Vegetables, Herb-crushed Yukon Gold Potatoes, Cowboy-style Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob

Breakfast is cheaper naturally but so find the dinner to be my preference. My wife says its a toss up for her. Meanwhile my daughter (fellow carnivore) likes dinner and my somewhat picky son likes breakfast. The ribs aren't the best, I'd rate them as average nothing great about them. The sausage and strip loon are both very good. Can't speak to the fish. I don't eat much in the way of fish/ seafood.

I see PP said sides are for sharing. So does that mean you can share these platters. Or does each person get charged? I've seen a couple places that they are called family platters which I think means a family can share. Then I've been told on here that it's per person cost.

I do believe they mean "family style" for the sides. Basically you can get a different protein, but they only bring you one dish of the sides to share. If you want more protein, they will bring it out for you. Same if your group finishes the side dishes.

Each person getting the skillet gets charged. It does not mean one person can order the skillet, give their food to other people and then ask for more food.

If everyone in your family is ordering an entree and someone who isn't getting the skillet sneaks a bite, the world will not end. If one person in a party of 5 orders the skillet and everyone else just orders drinks and appetizers yet that one skillet customer has 5 heaping helpings of the skillet, they're going to suspect something is up.

Likewise, I doubt they're going to look favorably on an adult going "I want to pay the all you can eat price for a child but I promise I'll only eat as much as a child...a very...very hungry child BUT a child nonetheless!" At that point, just make life easy and order a single adult sized entree, more food than most kids can handle but not as much as the all-you-care-to-eat platter. It's one thing to order a kids' entree that is a finite amount of food, it's another thing to try to order something that can be unlimited, with an adult's appetite, but at a kids' price.

And the GALLON mason jar (didn't know they make one THAT big) of water. I felt sorry for the poor kid at breakfast that had to drink all that.

Never ate there for dinner, but we love breakfast, and yes, the platter is per person.
