Food to go from Table service restaurants

Can anyone tell me if you can get dessert and coffee to go without sitting down to eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe and the Kona Cafe?

This reminds me of the most expensive take-out meal I've ever had...

During one trip to Epcot, I made the mistake of making reservations at Biergarten (lunch) and Le Cellier (dinner) on the same day.

Biergarten's food was really good--far better than I was expecting for it being a buffet, and I ended up eating several plates filled with food. I thought by the time we had our Le Cellier reservation 5 hours later that I'd be hungry again...I was wrong.

We still ended up going into Le Cellier thinking I'd at least try to eat. I HAD to get the awesome cheese and beer soup, but the soup was all I could eat. By this point I was feeling sick and couldn't even look at any more food.

Unfortunately, we had already ordered our entrees--I had ordered the Le Cellier filet mignon with risotto and as soon as it was sat down in front of me I knew I couldn't eat a single bite (despite it looking so good). So, after explaining to the server what had happened and being embarrassed, I basically had the entire dish boxed up and I was able to take it home and I enjoyed it later that night. My two pups were also VERY happy about getting a couple of bites of Le Cellier's filet as well!

This being the case, I do think you should be able to get food 'to-go' with no problem.

The only Table Restaurant in WDW that I know of where you can order their menu items to go is at the ESPN Club. It's something I have done a few times. The only catch is when doing that they automatically charge 18% gratuity onto your reciept. So with that said no one actually knows if that can be done at the Grand Floridian Cafe or Kona Cafe.

My husband did it for us at the Wave at the Contemporary. Our daughter was sick and we were stuck in the room and dining credits to use. They boxed it all up and were very accommodating. Without a reservation. :) Food wasn't great but I am sure it can be done.

We just came back from a week at OKW, and had asked Olivia's if we could just go and order dessert to go. Unfortunately, the answer was no.

I write this a lot, but hey it applies to the conversation - when we stay at SSR I've called ahead a few times to Wolfgang Puck express and order to-go. In fact, I'm walking there while I'm calling, and by the time I get there the order is just finishing up and getting boxed. 2X for dinner and once for breakfast. Much better than the selection at Artist's Palette, and still just a counter service credit.

Also, in December of 2008, we were in SSR at the same time my sister was staying offsite with her family and our mom. My mom agreed to babysit my sister's kids and our baby in our room so the rest of us could have a double date adult's night out dot dot dot OR SO WE THOUGHT! We went to Raglan Road, we had ADRs, everything is going without a hitch, we've ordered drinks and our meals, and then I notice I have a message. Actually 3 of 'em. All from my mom with our baby SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER in the background. She jut could not would not be soothed by anybody but us. So my wife and sister skipped the restaurant, my brother in law & I stayed behind and explained the situation and the staff at Raglan Road was very courteous and understanding and crated all our meals to-go, and we ate in our Villa, ordering an extra meal for my mom, while sis' kids ate pizza and my baby finally calmed down in her mommy's arms.

Various places will do it. Honestly anchorman314's comment above is the first time I heard of a restaurant saying No, and it makes me wonder if the staff that day was new and not too hip on the "make the customer happy" ethos. I'm sure some of the higher end places might carp about it, but ultimately you're trying to give Disney some more of your money, a to-go order means profit earned without valuable seating space being taken up, leaving room for more customers.

Probably only if you made an ADR, showed up to be seated, then asked for it to go. Might as well order a beverage while waiting. Don't forget to tip!

We asked several restaurants for *to go* food last year. First week of November. (Le Cellier, Yachtsman's, Narcossee's) We also stopped in at Grand Floridian Cafe and asked for the Chocolate fondue to go (we had breakfast here that same day) They were very nice, got our dessert to go. No problem at all.
