Epcot Money Grab

It's WDW, of course the food and drink is going to be "over priced" :)

I don't care, when else am I going to be able to sit is a pretty empty WS at night and relax with food and booze. If I was looking for a good deal I would drink and eat at the local Chiles at happy hours, except that view sucks compared to the WS at night :)

Are you limited to one place all night? If I buy the La Cava "Wind Down" can I then go over to Rose and Crown and buy a beer out of pocket?

I do not know but I would think yes. Well unless the other place is just packed full of "their" guest anyways. Like I said we booked Spice Road but I would like to swing over to the R&C as well :)

It's not a money grab if the people who attend are willing to pay and find value in it. I know it's cool to yell greed at the first announcement of something new, but this actually sounds better than one of the "dessert parties" that are offered.

Or here's a theory... just put on offerings in your bars and restaurants that make people want to come and spend time there... without having to pay a up front fee and make a reservation.

Of course they're a business, but part of the "magic" used to be that they weren't so in your face about it all the time.
You have a point. I remember that back after the MK opened, they didn't have ticket booths. The CMs dressed as panhandlers and beggars and formed a line across Main Street USA and you placed your park entry fee in their hat or tin cup as you passed by....

I think this is a trick. It's a way to get people stuck in a lounge, liquored up and hit them with a DVC presentation. OK trick is this wrong word more like, It's a trap!

I already own DVC, so I am safe after I get liquored up :) Unless they have other plans for me....o_O You now I never trusted Scrooge McDuck....how did he get so rich......sweat shops I bet......most likely underground at WDW......I could be drunk and then shanghaied into a sweat shop!!!! Making those dang sets of mouse ears no doubt......living under Spaceship Earth...working 18 hours days...

I am thinking of booking just me and the wife, leaving the kids at the BW (well my daughter is going on 17 so not really kids) while we are there. A nice surprise for her I think :) We can walk to Epcot, drink it up and then stumble back to the BW :)

We are booked for sept. I enjoy being able to have a beautiful place like epcot to drink it up...even better is staying at BC. I defenitly stumbled back to my room in jan

Just walking through th WS with nearly no people is another draw for me.

I'm going to be completely honest here... even though I plan to do my WS drinking on a Friday night, I am definitely glad that DH and I will be able to take a bus back to our hotel that night ;)

Honestly the draw for me is that since it does cost $35 per person it will not be as crowed. It's called a wind down, not a elbow to elbow bar hopping night out :) I would rather pay than fight more crowds. WDW is offering that, if someone wants in then they can get in, if not then that is fine as well. Since Epcot would have been closed anyways no one is losing a darn thing by WDW doing this.

Again WDW is darned if they do, darned if they don't by some. o_O

Wind Down? What are we grumpy toddlers?

Lol... nice!

I also think someone else made a good point: Wind down from what? To me, that terminology would make more sense if WS was open until, say, midnight and then the extra time was until 2 am or something along those lines. But many of the people who would be inclined to do something like this probably hardly consider finishing up anywhere at 11 pm "winding down."

It almost seems like maybe they are trying to make the idea of staying at Epcot for a few drinks sound a little more upscale? Kind of "class it up" a bit from the notion of a WS crawl? If so, I'm not sure that this will change anything on that front... just throwing out my thoughts as they come.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying at all that I think the drinking around WS needs to be "classed up" at all. I haven't even been as an adult yet, so I can't comment on that. My comments above were driven mainly by some of the comments I've seen here where people are a little down on the idea of drinking going on at Disney parks and in no way reflect my opinion on the subject.
