I haven't had a raise in 5 years. Cry me a river.

same.
of course they do... who doesn't.... I don't want this to get political but with all the talk about bumping up minimum wage to $10+ (assuming many front line CM's make less than that?), do that and watch the prices of tickets rise way more than $4 per day

Uh. They're going to raise prices no matter if the CMs get a raise or not.

It was a rhetorical question, and I think you missed the point :)
He was just joshing, and I can assure you he didn't.....

I'm not going to say if these workers are right or wrong in asking for a raise, but between the profits Disney is reporting on a quarterly basis and the rise in ticket prices being ~60% over the past nine years, it certainly shouldn't be a surprise to Disney that they are....

I have no doubt that Disney CM's in the lower pay scales both deserve and legitimately need a periodic (and reasonable) increase in pay. Before anyone says anything, we all know these aren't well paying jobs, but many CM's work hard for long hours every shift. That should be rewarded with reasonable compensation.

Very true.

What is your salary?
That is a fair question. What isn't apparent for many is how many hops you have to jump through to get a job at WDW. The hiring process is quite lengthy and I'm certain that the wages are well known as well as how Disney handles increases. I think the other fair question is why would someone join a corporation with pretty well known disparagement of salaries and tight increases to only turn around and act as a victim.

Maybe I'm just confused here... the video mentions that most of the people making below $10/hr are part time, are the part timers part of that whole rally to increase wages? I could understand if they're full time, but it's very rare that you can make a living or support a family off of part time work, so it kind of seems odd if that' whats happening. Even if you make $20/hr part time, assuming you work say 25 hr weeks, that's only $500/week, or $26,000 a year. That isn't enough to support a family, and depending on a number of variables that isn't even enough to support yourself. Full timers wanting more makes more sense to me, but I don't know why the video would even mention part timers then? Part timers at most businesses make less than $10/hr and have little or no benefits.

"Part time" is a term of art at WDW. Most part-timers probably work 35 or more hours every week--I'd guess all of them work more than that during busy seasons--but technically the hours aren't guaranteed. It can take a couple years to reach true "full time" status.

Also, I know plenty of families in Orlando getting by on $26k a year or less, and a hell of a lot of kids in their 20s getting by on less. The provincialism of the Disney online fan community really shining through on this thread ...
