Using a car cover in parking lot???

So I'm going to be at the Poly for a week in March and I was just wondering if they give any one any issues for using a car cover in the parking lot? I know they give you the little parking pass but does anyone really check those? I guess I can tape the parking slip to the cover if its needed.

I would call the front desk of the poly to make sure, but I don't see why they would give you any problems.

Yes they do check those. Almost every trip I see security checking cars. They are more rigid at the Poly about parking limits at the moment because the construction has closed the smaller lot in front of Rapa Nui. That's putting more pressure on the main lot. So it would be good to make the pass visible.

You should ask the Poly about using the cover though I cannot see why it would be a problem. However, unlike what was suggested you cannot call the front desk. All calls, even those made from a room phone at the resort, are routed through the call centres. They will answer as though they are the Poly but it will be the call centre. So, I'd be sure to ask the front desk when I check in rather than trusting a call centre CM.

Noted! I have a weather proof slip I can put the pass in and stick to the cover if needed. Ill just ask when we get there.

Isn't the call center in Tampa? Is their anyway to get in touch with the actual resort itself? I see phones behind the counter and see people on them, are they just talking to other CMs in different depts?

There are actually several call centres. Yes, they can put people through but that is done very, very rarely for serious and important issues. Really, they almost always simply pass issues to the hotels via the computer systems.

There are phones at the desks but they are for internal communications. To get to the actual front desk you have to know the unpublished internal number and those are never given out.

Pretty interesting! I new if I called from my cell or house phone I wasn't going to get the actual resort desk but I thought for sure if I'm staying their and call from the in room phone I'd get someone at the front desk. Now that I think about it though, with the amount of guests at each resort it would be next to impossible for just a few front desk CMs to handle every call in a timely manner. Makes sense to route them to a call center.

The only thing I'd worry about with leaving your parking pass outside of your car, is that anyone can take it to use for THEIR car. No one probably would, but it's not impossible. Like others, I'd say talk to the front desk, maybe there's a way to keep your license plate number on file so if they're looking for passes, they can just lift the back of your cover, see the plate and now you're kosher. Another option, if you feel like spending even more money before a Disney vacation (YAY!) is buy another, inexpensive car cover, and cut a small enough flap that the pass can be seen.

What's the purpose of a car cover?
Can't think why I would want to go to the effort of spending ages covering the car up and removing it everytime I wanted to use it.

Keeps the sun out of the interior...
Keeps things off the paint..
Keeps the car cleaner...

Usually used for more storage vs overnight needs tho

Yes - car paint still fades.. but usually people do it more to protect the paint's finish and protecting the interior. Keeping bird droppings off, limited protection against scrapes, scratches, etc.

And also a lot of people with convertibles use them to help protect the canvas top. Which, in Florida, tends to "bake" in our heat and intense UV rays causing them to dry out, crack, fade and fray and of course can shorten the lifespan of a top.

Extended exposure to heat can also crack your dashboard. So the car cover would help prevent the sunlight from doing that.

Not an option lol. Didn't buy this car to sit at home, its the weekend toy lol

We arrive Saturday March 1st and I'll find a car wash to wash all the bugs off from the 10 hr road trip then we'll check into the resort and more then likely not drive it again until we leave on the 8th. If my fiance decides she wants to go to the outlets then thats really the only reason the car would move during the stay but we usually stop at those before we get to the resort. I'd rather keep it covered to keep bird droppings, dust/dirt, little kid hand prints and what not off of it. I know its a car but I'm a huge car guy and I like to take care of my belongings, I try and keep everything nice and clean. If something happens it happens but I'm going to do what I can to try and prevent it.
