Disneyland Resort 2014 AP benefits

In 2013, the Disneyland Resort hosted a number of separate Limited Time Magic events for its annual passholders, and 99% of them were better than the regular events. It's a new year and although Limited Time Magic is over (thankfully), the DLR continues to offer special discounts and events. This thread will be keeping track of these benefits.

In the beginning of this year, save up to 25% on the resort hotels on selected Sundays-Thursdays, and 15% on selected Fridays and Saturdays. This deal comes with two Fastpasses for each party member and a photo from PhotoPass.

https://disneyland.disney.go.com/offers-discounts/disneyland-hotels-with-fastpass-and-photopass/

Passholders can also save up to 30% at Aulani, on select days.

There is a 20% discount available for passholders for the "Cultivating the Magic" tour, which I hear is pretty interesting.

Special discounts on dining and shopping at the GardenWalk across the street:

That's all for now, I'll try to keep this updated.

If you pay separately, no, but if you pay as one, you can. What I would do was pay for everyone's food or merchandise so I could use my AP, and then my family/friends would just give me the money back.
Yes! My sons pay me back! Cha-CHING!!! LOL! J/K! If I see the passholder discount for the DLH show up for our dates I'll buy myself an AP then regular tickets for the family. Discounts on hotel, food, some merch, AND a tour (we want to do Walk in Walt's Footsteps) would be worthwhile. We're thinking we may buy DH an AP, too. We're fairly certain we'll want to return sans kids in the fall for our annual anniversary getaway. Or maybe the week before Thanksgiving week. Or both. LOL!

Sounds like a good plan! Hopefully you can get those hotel discounts. An extra AP for your hubby doesn't sound like a bad idea. And the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour is the most popular. That should be fun.

sweetpee, if I remember correctly, I believe that you're a WDW regular...If so, I would highly recommend getting the Premier Passport for both Resorts. I had been a long-time WDW'er and then I had the opportunity to visit DLR on a handful of occasions due to business travel. One year when we had two WDW trips planned, I decided to buy the Premier Passport since it worked out to be less than buying any combination of regular Park Hoppers, Annual Passes, etc.
In the end, it has turned out to be an worthwhile purchase (anyone would need to do the math to make sure it's right for them). However, the best part is that I ended up having a few more opportunities than expected to visit DLR and I wouldn't have been able to if I had not had the Premier Passport.
In the end, it genuinely ended up being cheaper for even the scheduled visits. However, it's also a great reason to make an excuse for those extra trips that you may otherwise be on the fence for! :D
Again, do the math, but if you're potentially considering additional visits to either Resort, it could be a big savings.

The one thing that I do want to point out though is that they are still choking on the WDW linking to My Disney Experience. As such, I had issues not only with the fact that I couldn't get my ticket to link to the MyMagic+ system, but I also could not use my Magic Band as my entry nor could I schedule FastPass+ online.
I sincerely hope that they sort these problems out soon for the people who have paid that much for a ticket...but anyway.

Whatever you decide, good luck and have a great trip!

Oh no no no! I've been in WDW parks on a single day since September 2011. The only reason we did that was because it was a free inclusion on a Disney cruise port call to Port Canaveral. Otherwise, we have zero interest in visiting the WDW 4-parks. Absolute zero. I'd go to a water park but not one of the 4-parks. No desire whatsoever. I know it sounds crazy and I could write a book explaining all the whys. I'm a well-seasoned WDW veteran *of the past*. ;) If we revisit any parks resort in the US it will be in California. Otherwise, look for me on a ship or an island somewhere. LOL!

Ah, gotcha (I haven't paid close enough attention...sounds like I missed a BIG detail!).
I can understand why some wouldn't want to go back.
It's gotten really crazy...busy, more strollers than people, long, long bus lines and bus rides, rude people, disrepair, and I'm not even going to touch on the MyMagic+ / FastPass+...
The only thing that allows me to keep going is having low expectations of what I can do with my time. Since I've seen almost everything many times, I can get by without having to see it all on each trip.

Disneyland, on the other hand, can be busy at times, but is much more palatable in general! Easier to get around, shorter lines, and just more general charm.

When we read this a few days ago, we were saying how much more the AP in DL gets compared to WDW. Wish we are able to do this.

I think it's strange WDW doesn't put on special events like this past one for their APs. They're loyal, just like DL APs. They should be rewarded the same way. I wish I could have done this as well, but it was on a school night. Hopefully something like this is planned during your time in the parks.

An annual passholder reported back to us on MiceChat about the Beauty and the Beast screening. They said roses were given out, and they were turned on whenever a song came on. They also said Belle and Beast came out onstage before the movie started.

In the end, it has turned out to be an worthwhile purchase (anyone would need to do the math to make sure it's right for them).

I did the same thing. I had a WDW AP and decided to vist DLR for five days. The first time I didn't upgrade and bought a 5-day ticket (at the time, park hopping was included for 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-day tickets). I only did the math afterward and discovered I could have saved money. Having fallen in love with DLR, my next trip I opted to purchase the Premier Passport. I had calculated that based on the cost of a WDW AP (which I would have renewed anyway) and the cost of a 5-day DLR ticket, I would save about $50. I eneded up visiting DLR 3 times that year, and WDW only once! Based on the math, it still worked.

Now, however, it would not work. The pass is so high that you really do need to crunch the numbers to make sure it works. I think I calculated I needed two-5 day trips to one resort and one 5-day trip to the other to make it worthwhile. Though you do get some good discounts at DLR.

However, the best part is that I ended up having a few more opportunities than expected to visit DLR and I wouldn't have been able to if I had not had the Premier Passport.
I actually scheduled additional trips, since I had the pass, and with access from off-site just as easy if not easier than on-site, even the hotels were cheaper than going to WDW.

In the end, it genuinely ended up being cheaper for even the scheduled visits. However, it's also a great reason to make an excuse for those extra trips that you may otherwise be on the fence for! :D
Again, do the math, but if you're potentially considering additional visits to either Resort, it could be a big savings.
Absolutely. And DLR AP holders get food discounts without having to pay extra for a discount card, and that helps!

Disney IT should have helped with that. The Premier Passport needs to have been issued by WDW with the RFID in order for them to link it. If you got it at DLR, they can't link it because it doesn't have RFID. However, WDW-issued Premier Passes won't work at DLR, so DLR's IT people will have to manually fix it in their system, and it can take a few days.

Thanks for the info!
I'm not sure if it was just so early in the MyMagic+ program that no one knew what to do or???
Let's just say that there were about four CM's involved behind the desk all saying something to the effect of "Well, I heard that....with the Premier Passport". I'm sure I could've pushed it further to get more help, but I had already heard about incompatibility stories and as it turned out, we were arriving late at night on that trip (which is unual for us). We were all hungry and knowing how long those type of problem-solving things can take, I elected just to use my Magic Band for room and charging and showing my pass separately for admission.
In the end, it definitely didn't have the same convenience of the Magic Band but I made due!

I'll have to push the issue next year (hmm...more excuses to visit the Parks!).
