I dont dislike it but as said by others the theming ended on the lift hill.

Structural girders and daylight leaks in huge empty spaces does not make an E Ticket.

If the original intentions to have an interior along the lines of Disneylands Matterhorn had been carried through it would have helped. And thats without going into the broken and deactivated effects/ But these have been covered before ad nauseum.

I know the point... It could have multiple show stopping set pieces. It could have really been the focal point of every Disney trip, but its ten years old and it all kinda feels like coulda woulda shoulda and the topic is kinda getting tired. I WANT THE YETI FIXED. I don't see it happening until people are coming to the park for more high end attractions.

The first time I rode it--I was surprised by the area between the load in and the lift hill. You basically just go through some trees. I was expecting some Yurts, maybe something like the stone tablet shrines, stuff like that. A yak? Something . . . . Instead the first part is just, well, trees.

Even though I don't really like the coaster design, it's a great attraction, but inconsistent, and . . . broken.

On our first time riding EE, my husband, who's not a Disney freak like me, LOVED the ride. He loved the theming, the thrills, the story - everything, I left kind of disappointed because I had known about the Mythical non-working Yeti. Do you think you feel the same way about EE? If you didn't know what was supposed to happen- would you be amazed with what did happen?

Same thing goes with Avatar. When they undoubtedly water down their concept art are we going to be disappointed no matter what shows up verses the general unknown public who will be awed???

That's probably the most likely scenario, If Iger's gone in '15 Avatar is shut down about 5 minutes after he leaves of course that will extend even further the 'no new stuff' period unless they can retheme what's already been done

I'm as anti-Avatar at WDW as they come and even I can't see a scenario now where it doesn't get completed, whether Iger goes before its finished or not.

It was a lush Bamboo forest at one point. Then they clear cut it for some reason. I feel like there were reports that it was filled back in, but I haven't seen any pictures to confirm this.

It's funny. Back when Everest opened, I was constantly complaining about this but no one else really seemed to care and was going on an on about how great the whole thing was. And this was before the Yeti broke. Now all of a sudden I see a bunch a people with the same opinion. Glad to know I wasn't crazy all these years. Those light leaks and structural steel kill me. And of course now I'm defending Avatar these days and everyone's against that. I never do seem to be on the right side of the argument. :-(

Wasn't there supposed to be a huge Yeti ala Kong in the ride with a ride car segment picking it up or something like that ... quelle surprise Jay R was President of WDW when it was built.

There's a piece of concept art that shows that but I'm pretty sure that was very early on and more of a mood setter than an actual real intention. The yeti in that picture is practically the size of the mountain.
