Nerves kicking in - Blizzard

Am I the only person starting to get nervous with "Hercules" blizzard coming through the North East..of course my neck of the woods is getting slammed right now.

We're planning to leave January 7th which is Tuesday and the storm should be over by tomorrow (11am) but the nerves are kicking in now. With no flights coming in or out of TF Green for 2-3 days it gets me weary.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Or on the same boat I am now? I don't even know what to do if our flight was to get delayed. How would Disney accommodate us if we weren't able to arrive on the 7th?

Any and all words to calm me down will be appreciated! LOL

When I was there in February I was supposed to leave on Friday got an email my flight was cancelled due to weather in Chicago I went to my hotel carribean beach they were booked solid but they had an opening for pop century so we started there and left the next day the only issue I had was magic express it was to late to print out a new voucher and the bus driver was a jerk even though pop workers told him the situation I had to wait in line at the Check in to get one printed and took the next bus besides that it went fine

I live right around the corner from TFGreen, and you're right, we're supposed to get slammed. But it's only 8 - 12 inches that they're taking about, so my guess is that the airport will be back up and running by saturday. You should have no problem getting out on Tuesday.

Thanks for that..made me feel better. I have a "friend" that works at TF Green and he gave me a novel on how I HAVE to call ASAP to change my flight and all this other BS. So, him saying that just made me freak out. But you're right, and I guess so was my girlfriend but I wont tell her that:cool:

The fact that we're getting the brunt of this at night is actually a good thing too - the crews will be out there all night tonight. You'll be fine.

They used to say on the news that flights don't stop for snow. They stop for temperature/ICE. They said that every time they closed the airport - that it wasn't the runways, it was the problem of ice on the planes. I don't know if it was true. Hope you get out!

I hope everyone remains warm up there!!! (I don't even like thinking about snow and ice. Brrrr.)

Well I'm not sure about that either but, When I left work an hour ago my car was completely frozen. Windshield, windows, door, mirrors you name it- it was frozen.

And thank you!

I remember those days! Car windows frozen shut. Yuk. I was a smoker for many of those years and had to choose between sitting in a smoke-filled car or not smoking. Not smoking won for a few minutes. :) Then I sat in there with all that horrid smoke. You know you're seriously addicted when you smoke in an unventilated car!

It was so warm in Orlando today that I didn't wear a jacket and probably could've worn shorts. I point this out not to brag (it's so silly when people brag about their weather, like they had some control over it, lol, or want to rub it in, which is mean), but to let you know this: The sun and warmth is waiting for you! :D

Reading about your lovely Orlando weather and possibly wearing shorts I happened to curse a little in my head. Just a little though, lol. Trust me, I'm waiting for the sun and warmth myself! I do landscaping spring-fall and I'm in the heat all day I honestly hate the winter. I'm probably the only landscaper that doesn't plow..gross.

Don't worry.....I live about 15 miles south of TF Green Airport. You will be fine for a Tuesday flight to Disney. I realize that we are expecting snow and I would never under estimate the effects of a "blizzard" but somewhere along the line we have turned the corner or being sensible about the weather. This is Rhode Island and it is New England....we get snow in the winter. With 24 hour news and 24 hour weather it is enough to make you crazy. Some schools in RI cancelled today....for drizzle and a few snowflakes. Really!
The airports are very efficient at what they do....travel is money and they will get those planes in the air ASAP.
Have a wonderful trip and post some photos for your fellow Rhode Islanders....:cat:

Thanks for that, and your right. I had a parking ban at 7 AM with a mere dusting on the roads. My so called friend that works at TF Green got me all worked up. Makes me wonder if he even knows what he's doing..probably not:rolleyes:

I'll make sure to take a few pictures of palm trees for you guys;)

Just an opinion....

NEVER go to WDW from Dec thru March. WDW is still GREAT in these months.... but the airlines effectively FOLD. If you can drive from a southern state? GREAT. But don't depend on anyone that SAYS they fly... a good half of the time, they will cancel.

Valid point, only issue with that is I own a landscaping company and I work March-December (worked until the second week and had clean-up calls after snow storms believe it or not) So literally, January is the only time I can go:( And I will never drive to Disney World again, and I didn't even drive! it was an awful experience to say the least..

Just wanted to wish you good luck with your flight tomorrow. The snow didn't bother things much, but now the freezing weather has really raised havoc at all the airports.
Thank you very much! I'm already in the "I'm up too early and can't fall asleep" stage. Leaving in 2 hours to be on the safe side. Hoping there is no issues this morning with these cold temps!
