This will slightly save congestion and provide gf and Polynesian guests with option of walking. Staying at the gf, I have wanted to be able to walk back so badly at certain times, glad they are doing this simple but useful project.

I know that there is no way to do it easily but I wish they could build a walkway from the Contemporary to the Polynesian. Then, we could walk all the way around the Lagoon. Still, now we only have to take the monorail from CR to Poly to keep walking. That is if this bridge is really for pedestrians.

This.

Reconfigure/repurpose the TTC and expand or add a new resort. Would be great!

Assuming this thread is merged with the other in the WDW hotels/resorts section, but have to ask, is there any certainty that these are floating bridges made for guest use? They look as though they could be, but it seems even more cumbersome and labor intensive than other bridge concepts.

Oooh, I've always wanted to jog along there. Geodistance says from the wedding pavilion at GF to the Contemporary parking lot is 1.5 miles. It'd be nice if they could have a path completely around the monorail loop.

It'll be like the barrel bridge on Tom Sawyer Island :)

Remember that there was supposed to have been a walkway built several years ago as the bricks were to encircle the Seven Seas Lagoon and you'd be able to walk all the way around back to the MK.

It's can't be a floating bridge if it is a bridge at all. They use that canal to dock the Electrical Water Pageant when it's not in use so if a bridge is going to be build it has to be a draw bridge just like the one in Epcot by the Outpost that lets the Earth Barge in to the World Showcase Lagoon each day.

I think the OP meant that the floating bridge would be hauled out of the way pre water pageant to let the barges do their thing, then brought back in after they return. In that case, it could float. But still seems highly labor intensive and unlikely.

I don't claim to know much about bridges but...
It looks like some additional dock work, of much the same kind already found in that canal. That folded up hardware could not span anywhere near the width of the canal (at least the point in the picture). There could be more hardware out of shot, but to me it looks like some extra docks ready to be deployed as needed.

My family just purchased at the GFV this summer so here's hoping it is a bridge. It would be soooo nice being able to walk back from MK instead of following the herd out towards the buses, monorail, etc. Every time we leave MK at park close it reminds me of that scene in the Tom Cruise remake of War of the Worlds when the people are loading onto the ferry boat about mid way through the movie.
