Seasonal food and drink throughout World Showcase joins Epcot's Holidays Around the World

Well they may as well just rename the park Drunk-cot at this point.

When I read the title, I thought "Yay, more drunks around WS!" :banghead:

Having read the article however, the offerings appear to be seasonally appropriate, and some sound absolutely delicious.
There's that at least, but you know there's just going to be a ton of drunks boozing it up and just ignoring the holiday treats.

And that will keep people from getting drunk how?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

It won't. My point was that I was expecting the seasonal menu to be 3/4 booze and 1/4 food, whereas it appears to be more food-centric for a change.

We had a pretty miserable time in WS during our last trip; despite only visiting BEFORE the beginning of F&W (unfortunately they opened the booths ahead of schedule on the Thursday night), or before 5:00 p.m. on weeknights.
During F&W, the fools start early.

These additional offerings look more family-friendly, and less focused on folks getting sloshed. I would think that it would take more peppermint schnapps to get "barf-in-the-bushes bombed" than most people would care to drink.

People drink around the world all year around. I thought "Yay, I love the Festivals at Epcot!" But that's just me.
Nope - not just you. Lots of people like the festivals.
Even as a non-drinker, I enjoy the festivals - more so when we don't have the kids with us.

It just seems to me that each year the behaviour (by a vast minority) gets more outrageous earlier and earlier during the day.

I know what to expect at 8:00 p.m on a weekend during F&W. I do not, however, expect to step in fresh vomit at 2:00 p.m. on a Wednesday.

Hooray!

Any food or wine offerings is a great idea. EPCOT did used to offer holiday tents around world showcase back in 2000 and 2001 - I remember a baked potato tent and hot soup stand.... Great idea! Food and drink are such a big part of the holiday in many different countries - I just wished there was a bit more!!

Well.....you yourself stated "yay more drunks around the WS" which was my point. That was your first thought. Mine was cool another festival.

I guess I should be thankful that the hundreds of times I've been to Epcot I've never encountered anything remotely close to what people claim to have seen around the WS. For what its worth I've seen far more vomit at the Magic Kingdom than Epcot.

When you're in your 40's with your foot in the bathroom sink, rinsing barf from between your toes and out of your flip flops, you too, might have the same "first impression".
I did go on to say, that upon reading the article that I thought the offerings were seasonally appropriate, and more family-friendly.

I remember the old Epcot, pre F&W, and can honestly say that I liked it much better. YMMV.

I'm 32 and wouldn't want to step in vomit. Vomit isn't exclusive to Epcot. Could've been a kid who ate to much. Like the puke I've seen in fantasyland.

It wasn't about what you went on to say. I obviously made direct reference to your initial reaction. That, again, was my point.

I liked the old Epcot as well. I just wish it had a F&W festival to go with it.

I'll second that!

Sorry to say to all the dissenters but "where there's a will, there's a way..."
If someone is planning on getting sloshed, it's not going to take a 4th, 5th and 6th selection of beer in Germany for them to do so.
Likewise, if someone is on vacation from Sun. through Wed., I'm pretty sure they're not going to refrain from drinking anything because it's not a Sat. night...
I realize that F&W seems to draw more people from out of the woodwork (although having visited this past Oct., there was a blatant difference in crowds between weekday and weekend...presumably due to locals coming in for the weekends).

I visited San Diego, CA for the first time this past year on business and must say that I was caught off guard by a selection of fights, abnoxiousness and individuals holding young-lady's hair back over a city street trash can at 9:00pm on a Thurs. (and this is without any special festival).
Anyhow, I guess anywhere that drinking is possible, bad seeds will surface. (hence the Magic Kingdom's original policy, I presume)

I agree that there are people who get out of hand in any given situation (I have heard plenty of stories of family holiday parties where uncle so-and-so gets out of hand, which is also inappropriate).
Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that The World should avoid fun and spirited festivals that bring a lot of positive experiences to people who are not out of control. (My 10 year old thrives on enjoying a Pierogi, a sushi tray, and a Lobster roll while I am enjoying the same with a unique beer in my hand during F&W.)
