Food Intolerance?

So I went to the doctor yesterday and got some not so great news. So now I am being told I must switch to a gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, and no starch diet. :( So now I guess my only food options are cardboard and water
Any who, I'm headed to WDW in 19 days and have all my ADRs scheduled, so now what?
Do I need to inform them in advance that I have these restrictions? Or just tell them upon arrival to the restaurant?
Also, are any allergy and intolerance menus available online anywhere?
I've listed below a the restaurants we are eating at, so if anyone has previous experiences with special diets at these locations would be great:
Narcoossee's - Dinner
Yachtsman Steakhouse - Dinner
Akershus - Breakfast
Via Napoli - Dinner
Be Our Guest -Dinner
Mama Melrose -Dinner

Tell them in advance, have them mark it on your reservation and then call them a few days out and remind them again. Especially since there is a lot that you can not eat now. And then when you get to the restaurant tell the waitress. You can not be too careful about food allergies.

Just note those on your ADRs. I can't eat dairy or eggs and I don't eat meat by choice and had no problems at all. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!! Being a person with food sensitivities myself I've found it easier to eat at WDW than anywhere else but my own home!

With a diagnosis like that, do more than just note it on the reservations. As I just posted in a GF thread, check out this blog -> http://glutenfreedairyfreewdw.blogspot.com/ for info on the no gluten/no dairy portions. But also, reach out to WDW Special Diets ASAP. You can see their whole page here -> https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/special-dietary-requests/ They can either tell you what you can eat at a certain location, help to make sure they will have stuff you can eat, or possibly even help to arrange for special meals to be on site for your needs. They will do everything they can to work with you, but you need to get in touch. Some meals they look for a 14 day lead time on, so call them today!

For just one or two intolerances, you should be fine noting it on the reservation, and asking to talk to the chef when you arrive. But for that many, definitely reach out to Special Diets to make sure you will be covered.

I have to agree. That sounds like a serious Witch Doctor like diagnosis.

@PrincessNelly_NJ how exactly did you get diagnosed and, I hate to ask, but did an actual MD do this or was it some version of a natropath, homeopath, guru, etc?

Oh it's okay. Yes, it was an MD. I was diagnosed with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (early stages of liver disease, it is reversible) that was caused by hypothyroidism. It took 4 years and 5 doctors to finally get an answer and because it took so long my current doctor felt it was best to go very extreme with diet and medications to prevent any more damage to my liver.

When I try to note it on my reservations it won't allow me too. Do I need to call?

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, sounds like you had a long journey to it so at least you finally know! If you can't note the intolerances online with your reservations then yes you should probably call. But don't depend on just that make sure you tell your server about it and speak to the chef if necessary. Good luck!

Maybe the doctor will allow you to loosen up those restrictions somewhat on a vacation that was already planned? Just wondering.

@PrincessNelly_NJ You need to contact Special Diets...

SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com; or call them at (407) 824-5967

They will jump in and help if 1) you have an uncommon allergy/intolerance 2) have a metabolic disorder like PKU 3) have 4 or more common allergies/intolerances.

They will go beyond anything that would be done if it's just noted on your ADR. They have a form you'll need to complete, but I'd get the ball rolling right away.

Thank you all for your help and concern. I did reach out to the Special Diet department at Disney and they have already responded! So maybe my trip will be magical after all. I'm young (not even 25) so I have a lot of fight and life left in me so I know I can do this no problems!

I've got my trusty food guide from my doctor and my appetite :hungry: 19 days to go!
