The Sock Thread

Yes, you asked for it, here it is. Post your sock suggestions here. You don't hear much about running socks but after 20 miles they can be very important equipment.

I've been using New Balance thin moisture wicking and they are OK. Not great. Is a thick or thin sock better? I also tried the Zensah compression combo sock & leg sleeve but I didn't like them. I swear by the regular standalone sleeves though for longer runs. Thought about trying the regular Zensah running socks.

What do you all think?

I'm in! Thorlos running socks are the best socks ever and are made here in NC. They have so many styles but I stick with the mini crew running style to keep my feet happy

I really like my Balega Hidden Comfort socks. Believe it or not my second favorite socks are my Old Navy compression shortie socks. For me they are snug and and just the right thickness for me. You also can't beat the price. Online they are $6.50 each, but I bought a 3-pack at the store for about $10. My husband on the other hand, also got some and he doesn't care for them as much. I don't think he likes the compression but for me, I like the extra support.

Most of my long runs are in Tekos socks. Seem to do best at minimizing blisters for me. I'll use other socks when I'm trying to build up my calluses.

I use cheap (2 for $8.50) Target C-9 women's low cut running socks. They are definitely more on the thin side. The only time I have gotten a blister was when I was doing a long run and my feet got wet otherwise they have worked really well for me. I have thought about trying other brands but if it ain't broke...

I think I have these too. Do they come in a lot of different colors? I bought some running socks at Target to match some of my outfits and their socks came in a bright multicolor pack. They work well for me too.

Yes they have white and black socks but the accent colors are neon pink and/or yellow. I need to buy more as I only have four pairs of running socks that I wash over and over again.

I just buy a mega pack of low cut running socks from Costco. The Kirkland brand is actually pretty thick and works well. :)

Me too! I bought 4 more yesterday.

I also just got a pair of knee high compression socks, the are hot pink and black argyle too for added visibility on dark mornings. It's been so hot, I haven't really used them, but I am going to start rotating them in my long runs and see if I like them.

And - at least for me - not easy to find that perfect comfortable fit!
I am fortunate to be less endowed...But I got to thinking about this when I was trying to get my SIL to run with me. She had a reduction and is still a DD. She told me that she didn't think that sports bras even came in that size...:(

I've heard that Title Nine comes in that size.

Injinji athletic socks, they are the five-toed socks. Add a bit to toe box width but I couldn't find anything to prevent my toes from rubbing/sliding against each other and ending up a literal bloody mess. Great color and fabric choices! REI has them consistently and usually if you buy three or more pairs at a time, they offer a discount.

Running bras: need something adjustable both shoulder straps and rib cage band. Champion is my favorite but it is getting harder to find their high impact bras in the stores (and I will not buy without trying) so on-line is not an option for me.

Just saw a post about those on the runningwarehouse FB page. I had no idea they were so popular. I don't have a problem with blisters but people who have experienced problems raved about them. The only complaint was people with "odd shaped toes" not fitting in them which got me thinking about peoples weird toes more than I would like. :cautious:

I have a few pairs. If you are on the edge between sizes, I'd suggest going down a size. They won't last as long that way, but there will be less material in the shoe. The extra fabric if the toes are big is really weird. Personally, the thin socks seem almost too thin, (coming from a guy who doesn't wearing sheer socks ever) and the thick socks are too thick to run with. The medium weight ones work well.
