Do I need cash in the parks or do I get a resort card?

Do you get a resort card when you stay at a WDW resort? Something that's tied to your CC on account at the hotel? Something that you can charge things in the parks to instead of having to bring cash or CC?

We do this all the time no need for cash. Ofcourse the bill at the end the vacation is a shock.

And there is a limit. Varies per resort, as I recall.

$500 for Values
$1000 for Moderates
$1500 for Deluxes

But, I could be wrong. I know, personally, that it's $500 for Values and $1000 for moderates, because I've experienced both.

However, you can pay this down through the trip! They'll even charge off your account to the card on file over the phone! I remember one time I was at the China pavilion and hit my limit (wasn't aware, at the time, that there was one) and I called the Front Desk of my hotel (a number I always program into my phone) and authorized they clear my account. They did so, and I went back over and the KTTW charge feature worked fine again.

On the park I carry a $100 bill for emergencies, but I've never had to use it. I also carry quarters and pennies for the penny machines, so that works for loose change items that may arise (like buying tokens for the train ride at DTD). The rest of my items (CCs, emergency cash, etc) I leave in the room safe.

Yes. Your room key's also your park ticket and you can use it to charge food and drinks. However, and this is my own opinion, having some extra cash handy's a good idea. You get to keep it when you're done.

You can charge to the room, but every once in a while, a machine won't work when you want to buy something and there are a few (very few) places that don't take them. I'd still take some cash, if I were you.

I had no idea there was a credit limit. They didn't tell me that when I started at the resort last year.

Yea, neither did I, when my sister and I got first got CC onto our 'Key to the World' we decided that we'd go to Epcot by ourselves. (Mother was still seasick from the ship) and spend the day there. Well, we love the WS, and we have never NOT bought anything there... Yea so she spent her money on a really expensive $100 pearl in Japan while I got a Celtic necklace and and earrings for $94 in England, and a few Japanese drinks and treats snack and split. Heh, wonder my parent were mad, they were going to save that limited money for emergencies and use actual cash to pay for our souvenirs, oops!

If this limit is new, over what time period is it? We go for 14 nights minimum so $1500 is easy do able for us. We are DVCers does that matter ????

We usually bring cash and hook a cc up to the room key. We have never had a problem, I love the convenience of having everything on my room key.

It's not new, been there for years, at least since 2003, if not before.

It's only a stop gap, you just need to call to tell them to push it through and then you have another $1500 to go. (or $500 for value, $1000 for mods)

It's so someone doesn't get your Key to the World card and max it out.

We have been 4 times since 2003 and never been told about it we have only been asked if we want a limit on any of the KTTW, and DS8 hasn't had charging privileges. Hey every day is a school day.

we pay for little things with cash, only because I am crazy meticulous with itemized bills and check everything. I like to make it as easy as possible and 10 charges/day for water or popcorn makes it that much harder :) And yes, occasionally I have found some errors :)

Double check that, because there is most certainly a KTTW max charge limit (note, without clearing it). I think it is actually tied into the general room charges system, as the only people who can clear it are people at the resorts. And they do this by initiating a charge on the card on file, or if someone pays them in other tender at the front desk.

The only thing I can't recall are the exact amounts, but, I am pretty sure the limits I listed earlier are the correct ones.
