I'm a little crazy as my suitcases were out in December for my June trip. All I put in them then were things we got for Christmas for the trip. But now I've started actually started to pack, my overnight bag is packed and today I'm going to pack the backpack we're going to use in DTD. So when do you start packing and do you use a packing list?

I usually start packing the weekend leading up to the trip. I do however have a bag in my room that I put stuff that I buy for the trip in so I know it is all in one place. So I guess you can consider that packing, but I don't actaully pull out the suitcases till the week before b/c they'll just be in my way! Can't wait, only 3 more weeks until I start the packing process!!!

We leave in 10 days....:) like many of you we keep a WDW tote with our ponchos, light up spinners, lanyard etc. I also keep our toiletries in there travel bag to store, which is huge but holds every single thing the 6 of us use, except my hair dryer. I did a once over and have replaced and packed what was needed at 12days out. We drive a Suburban and have the metal trial behind carrier that fits in our tow hitch, so we pack in Rubbermaid totes instead of suitcases. One for DH and I, one for kids and one for food/toiletries/WDW gear. Our stroller goes on top of bins and any valuables cameras/iPads/laptop and pillows blankets go in back of Suburban. I hate a cluttered car so I insist that area stay clear so the kids cr*p can go back there and out of the way. Anyway I am packing kids and myself this week along with sippy cups, medicines, 1st aide and the odds and ends like sissors/duct tape/tools for any car issues and camera with checking for memory cards, tape and batteries.
We do best packing the week before leaving the day before for house cleaning, car cleaning and last minute errands. This year am starting a little early because I have an insane 12 days ahead of me! Taking a trip at the end of the school year is not great timing, there is something every day/night! Oh well, will just make the trip sweeter:)

Ohhhhh, I hate a cluttered car, too, but DH won't put a car carrier or anything like it on the van so *everything* has to stay inside with us. We've done 7 people and all of our luggage in a minivan. I need anti-anxiety meds just to look in the back of the van (I keep the front seats neat and tidy). This trip there will be 6 of us in the minivan. I limit the 4 kids (ages 8-25) to one small drawstring bag to hold their "crap" and snacks; a travel-sized pillow, and a travel-sized blanket. I make them practice bundling everything in the blanket so that when we stop for a break or meal, we don't have stuff falling out of the van as they exit.

And I use the "tetris" method for packing the luggage in the back of the van -- trying not to have anything stacked higher than the top of the back seat. It's a puzzle I love doing. :-D

That is pretty much my method. I just don't have the space. I have already told DS that starting the weekend before we leave he will have to sleep with us so that his room can be my packing room. He is 8 and still begs to sleep with us every night so he was thrilled with that! I have a back pack in my room that I have been putting little things that I have been buying for the trip....aspirin, moleskin, bandaides, glow sticks, that kind of thing. And I have a little area in my pantry where I have a few foods that we are taking set aside, but that's it. That last week will be crazy busy with all the packing but that will help the time go by faster.

I usually start updating my list as soon as I know the trip is booked. The actual packing usually begins 2-3 weeks before the trip as I gather things that won't be needed before we leave. As I do laundry during that time, I pull out anything that I know will be going, so it won't be worn again before the trip. The actual packing of the suitcases happens 2-3 days before the trip. This time we are flying for the first time, so packing is a little different for us. We'll see how it goes.
Our 1st time flying too!:) I've got 3 carry ons packed already, as we went clothes shopping just for Disney.;)

I am an avid list maker LOL Everything gets its own pile in one of my spare bedrooms, then crossed off the list. I usually start with *incidentals* about 2 weeks before. A week before, all of our *vacation* clothes (tshirts, shorts) get ironed and laid out on the bed in the same room everything else is in. Suitcases get sprayed with lysol (I know, right!??!!?) I have everyone do a once over and atleast 2 days before our trip, said suitcases are all packed and ready to go.
I love the Lysol idea!!!! I am so doing this!!!

We're leaving on a Wednesday, so I'll do laundry and pack the weekend before. I already have some clothes set aside that I have designated as trip clothes. Our packing list should be finalized by the end of this week.

I'm leaving on Wednesday as well! I've just started packing today. As a matter of fact, I'm washing clothes right now. I always wait until the last minute to pack and I don't have a list. Yes, I forget some things sometimes, but I find I really don't need all of the things I think i do. Of course, the Star Wars tee was the first thing packed.:D

We leave for our next trip on Labor Day and I started gathering things a few weeks ago. Definitely use a list (I haven't printed it out yet - My husband would think I went totally nuts if I did). I'm so glad to tell him that I'm not the only Type A Disney Nut out there. Why didn't I know about this site the last time we went?
